Any hope/news for the return of the Clevo 650HS-G model?

Its been months since the release of the 8th gen CPUs and only a little less time since the Clevo 650HS model disappeared from all sites. Does anyone know if that model and its features are likely to return? I dont quite like only having the option to choose thin and lights from Sager/Clevo, and I dont want to have to get their 17.3 models foe g-sync.

Its a mediocre notebook anyways, there are plenty options out there which are far superior to the 650HS. I agree tho, the thin and light notebooks are mostly terrible, there are few exceptions out there such as the GS65 but I prefer heavy with better cooling as well.

If you want to make yourself happy get an MSI GT63

I think they will liklely do a 650 model at some point, they reuse parts anyways so I don't really se why they wouldnt just make another 650 notebook.

You asked this question in April - I confirmed that this chassis won't be updated any further ;-) To clarify, it's still available from some vendors with the 7 series CPUs, but it will unfortunately not be updated to 8th Gen.

Why would Clevo kill off one of their bestsellers? Doesn't seem like the smartest business move.

There's no doubt that the chassis could be improved, but as to why it's EOL - I can't answer that.

But the successors to the P6 chassis are inferior in terms of cooling, storage, GPU, and RAM...

The P95 HR and now ER came in 2017 and way before the P6 was EOL. The P5 is in a different branch to the P6 in the product roadmap, though they are the closest in spec, the P5 is not the successor to the P6.

Though to be clear, I'm not in any way defending the P5 - you're correct in that they are inferior to the P6 in terms of cooling, storage, GPU options but they are in a lower bracket to the P6. The P6 being EOL has left a gap in the product lineup - one of the reasons why we fill this gap with non-Clevo chassis based laptops.

Ah, sorry. I didn't quite see you explicitly state that the model just will not return. That's incredibly disappointing, actually. Most other manufacturers seem to be moving towards thin and lights too, or just big behemoth desktop replacements, like the MSI linked earlier in the thread. I liked the Sager model because it was a good in-between of size, with all the features of its bigger brothers.

Back to the drawing board for a laptop I want then.

    No worries!

There are some new GPUs comming at some point, maybe there will be some new chassis to keep them company ;-) There's just no immediate replacement from Clevo from 7th to 8th Gen Intel right now.

Unfortunately I'll need a new laptop sooner than they will probably be released. Most predictions I hear say they might be announced Q4, and then maybe the mobile versions would be out next spring. Another year wont work for me.

The P150 series was great too, but it was replaced, like the P650s have been.

It was replaced by the P75. The P6 has not had a comparable replacement yet.
