So Ive tried to set up a surround sound system and I cant get the rear (Secondary right and left speakers) to work.

    HOWEVER
when I turn on the reltek audio interface, and switch to 5.1, I can click the speakers to test their connection, and in there I clearly hear the two side speaker tests, but when I play a game or go on youtube, only the front L/R center and sub will play.

Ive triple checked to make sure everything is plugged in the right spot.

Also, the audio jacks are self detecting, so when I plug a jack in, it will ask me what its for and provide two options, so I can easily tell witch jack supports what.

so far the secondary right and left speakers are plugged into the 4th jack that comes up as SIDE SPEAKER OUT
(furthest one from where you face the laptop torwards the screen)
I keep alternating between that and the first jack (opposite of the 4th, closest to the user) labled REAR SPEAKER OUT or S/PDIF-out but neither of these two produce sound when I go on youtube or play witcher 3, only in the reltek menu where I can click and test each speaker separate.

Have you tried anything you know for sure has a 5.1 soundtrack like a DVD movie. I know there is no optical drive in your model but if you have an external you can try that.

I guess this would somewhat answer my question, because I really dont know. aparently my browser and youtube do not support 5.1, but I assumed the witcher 3 was in 5.1

unfortunately I do not have a file of a 5.1 movie.

I also agree that it might just be you don't have any content that is actually encoded in 5.1 sound. If the test works, then any 5.1 should work too.

I use the THX suite for my 5.1 speakers. I think OP you are playing content that doesnt output to a 5.1 setup, after all you are able to play the test sounds to each individual speaker.

Give THX a shot, works quite nicely in movies. Not 100% sure about games.
