It will be the first notebook lcd that I've heard of with true 16.7 million colors,
not to mention the other specs, so it seems to be worth waiting for.
The specs just say MP Q108, mass production 1st quarter 2008 I assume.
If anyone has more specific info on availability please share it with the list.
Cheers.

Okay, I have an idea that I went through with some people to be able to get the custom LCD panel that you want.
First, you can specify which panel you want and they might be able to special order it for you if needed....
If they cannot order it for you, You can ask the vendor if you can order the specific one yourself and ship it to the vendor for them to use and build your unit.
Its you best shot for the vendor to do it for you... other than you getting the unit without an LCD panel, and doing it yourself (which is not easy).
Example:
- you want this LP171WP7 panel (costs about $350-400) for your notebook
- you can specify that you want this one and are willing to pay for them to special order it
- if they say they cannot (or will not), then you can ask if you can order it for them, will they install the panel for you.
- if they will do neither (which would suck, but understandable), you can try to order the system without an LCD panel (or the cheapest one)
- get the specific LCD of your choice shipped to you
- do the LCD swap yourself. -
-
Yea I hear ya...
If you want something done right....(you know)
Thats why I said to order the panel that you want, and get that panel built with your system. -
gophn thanks again for the reply.. are there any physical limitations? I just noticed the LP171WP7's outline dimensions are 382.2 x 247.5 and active area is 367.2 x 229.5 ... the LP171WE2's (stock lcd) outline dimensionss are 382.2 X 244.5 and active area is 367.42 X 229.64 .. would it still work?
-
I was giving you advice to the "how"...
but you should definitely do some research and confirm with the vendor if the specific panel you want will fit correctly... although most 17" notebook panels are comparable to each other in size. -
hmm actually nm.. the 1440x900 LP171WP7 is closer in dimension to the 1920x1200 LP171WU1.. active area is the same but outline dimension is off by 3mm..
WU1: 382.2x244.5
WP7: 382.2x247.5 -
isnt the LP171WP7 a dual lamp screen?
-
yeah, why?
-
you would need a dual lamp inverter for the LP171WP7, which doesnt fit in to the lcd bezel of the M570RU. So its imposible to make the screen work, only because of the inverter.
i thnk this is the inverter used for this screen:

This is the new LCD i will receive
-
if you find a thin inverter for the dual lamp LCD (one that fits the M570RU) please tell me and i will buy the dual lamp screen
-
Would it fit the 9262?
-
I would stick with a single lamp screen... since it wont require any modifications.
-
dang that would defeat the purpose then
-
thats odd.. it seems as if for a time the LP171WP7 was used in clevo notebooks..

Would a LED backlight LCD have a different inverter than single lamp LCD?
Any info on when LP171WU5 lcd will be available?
