Clevo tried to make the W870CU reminiscent of it's predecessor, the M570TU. However, they wanted to stick to the professional market and launch the W870CU with silver trim as it matches it's little brother the W860CU and it's bigger brother, the M980NU/X8100. The decision to remove the color helped to increase popularity of the notebook. Clevo's entire line are all decked in professional color schemes and the red would make the notebook fall out of line this time around. Only the pre-production evaluation units of the W870CU came with the red stripe. If you like the red trim, you can always get it painted. It only covers a small portion of the upper chassis and the display bezel so it wouldn't be too difficult or expensive to get it professionally painted. Personally, I would like mine in a copper color.
