    Hi there,

Clevo planning to release any 15" or 17" laptops with a lower resolution than 1080p? Do you guys know of any resellers offering smaller resolutions in their high-end models? I'm looking at both P150HM & P170HM and would like to get them with a smaller resolution like 1600 x 900 or 1680 x 1050.

    Thank you

Well...why would you want to do that? I'm pretty sure you know that you can just buy a laptop with FHD and change the screen resolution on the laptop when you get it.

My eyes don't like them. I have owned a couple of 15" laptops with 1080p resolution and I don't like it. No amount of adjustments fixed anything. I just like the lower resolution. And changing the resolution in Windows doesn't look right. I just want a lower native resolution.

    Thank you

Yeah, 1600x900 wouldn't be a bad option. Maybe do a LCD swap yourself?

Wouldn't that mess with the warranty? I have never done a screen swap before and I'm not sure if I can do it right. So since nobody mentioned anything, I'm thinking there is no news about any future models coming with a lower resolution?

    Thank you

Hahaha I've had the opposite problem, I keep hoping that my computer will magically change into a WUXGA version :(

If it is Sager branded, then It will only affect the Sager warranty for the part that you swapped. Warranty for all other stock parts will not be affected. Any warranty claims for the swapped part will have to go through your reseller.

If it is a Clevo rebrand (for example, Mythlogic, Avadirect, etc; not including Sager), and the swap was done by the reseller, it should be covered by their warranty. The exception would be that you purchased the screen yourself, had it shipped to them, and requested them to use it when building your notebook.

In both cases, if you did the swap yourself, then warranty claims will have to go through the party you purchased the screen from.

if any one could get one of these into your machine, it'd be mythlogic. they might be a bit more $ than every one else, but they can't be beat when it comes to the customization options they have/can get for you

Are there any high quality 1600x900 screens out there? I know the Dell Studio XPS 17 forum has a lot of hate for the stock 900p LG screen it ships with right now.

I send them an email about it. Let's see what they say. I understand why everyone is so excited about 1080p. Almost all laptops out there offer different resolution choices. I don't know why Clevo opted for just the 1080p even on their 15" model.

    Thank you

My problem is that even 1080p feels small for spread sheets and multi tasking, I really notice the 5 rows of missing text vs the 1200p screen i used to have...

I normally work with 2 windows snap fit to the left and right.

Do you have your taskbar on the side? I've been using left-side taskbar since W7 and it helps for widescreens!

Really? how does that help? I like to have browser up on one side and one note/word/etc up on the right...

I guess it would buy me a few vertical lines at the cost of horizontal width...

Mythologic didn't reply. They probably didn't want to mess with it. I will probably wait for the next version of M15x.

    Thank you

seems as if they've been pretty busy lately or somethin. i'd say shoot em another one to see if he responds. i think sometimes, he reads an email why he's building a rig and just forgets to reply since he gets a ton more throughout the day. trying to give him the benefit of the doubt lol

you could try their live chat feature on their website. then you'll get a quicker response.

tried this before, and to me that was even uglier than downscaling my screen to 900p

Call them up and ask them. And try other resellers, too. It's not very likely that NO ONE will want to help you out on this, mate. Good luck!
