I'm really interested in this its my biggest angst leading up to picking up my notebook.. any one come across new data ..perhaps a reseller?

it wont have the hybrid SLI will it.. heeeem quite worried.

if it cant make 3hours wireless/word i may have to try and get a refund or credit.

humm just seems so low.. its a 8cell not a 6cell like the m15x humm sigh

and when i asked for new info i didn't want guess work that i already have read. :/
some resellers must have hands on them already.. open and transparent is the best approach! may get some who are on the fence to jump.

humm meh any one want to research the possibility of a 2nd battery mod if the CDrom drive is removed with me :)
Nivarna do u know of any guides of battery repair or rewiring.. is it as simple as connectors and do u think any thing hardware based in the Power supply of the notebook would prevent another 8 cells being added?

Resellers probably dont have it cause sager just got them and are doing tests on them right now. MY best guess is 2 hours with silent mode since the company's 2.5 hours estimate is just letting the battery run. But more likely than not people are going to be web browsing, listening to music etc.. Also the 2.5 hours might be an estimate with wifi off screen dimmed since details have not been released.

my exact thoughts... hummm.. i think im going to have to get serious about finding some way of adding another battery to the loop.

The dvd drive bay in the m860tu seems to be quite generous in size compared to say the np5973 i'm sure i could fit some thing in..

just need to find out how to connect it all up . ... humm hummm.. projects.

Healthkidd, you might want to invest in a class D fire extinguisher.

    Those lithium-polymer batteries...

i don't want to catch on fire.. but low battery life is not so hot.
Any one heard of such a mod being done? or any detailed battery /PSU notebook guides i could find for wiring info

if i could up it to 12 cells. 5hours silent mode would make me not cry about the rickety old m15x and all it promised

I don't see a reason why you can't attach more batteries to this laptop... But personally, I don't need more battery power, since I will mostly likely have power cord with me everywhere I go... I just wish the laptop is smaller.

What university are you going to? Out here, virtually nobody takes their laptops to class. Do your notes with pen and paper, and that's all you need your laptop for.

Also, even in programming lessons, you have better things to do than quickly try and out on your laptop; that's the homework.

its more for casual use.. / TVroom than work...

    esp things like video playback..

cables are just annoying esp if u don't need the power

regardless i'm very demanding.. i want 16cells in my m860tu!!

sigh, perfomance always comes with the cost of battery life (except for the m15x, but that had overheating issues).

feel sorry for me, i might be getting a Asus g70 that can only go 1 hour 20 min

Purchase a spare battery for an extra $160. This way you will be able to use it for at least 4 hours. Switching between batteries is very easy, just hibernate the computer and switch. it take less than two minutes.

I think it depends on your major, most Engineering, Graphic Design, and a few Medical schools requires you to bring laptop to classroom...

Right, he's not going med/law school. and enginnering, graphic design classes always take place in computer lab. the only time you will need laptop at university is typing essay during free time, but 6 hours free time?

Engineering classes does not always take place in computer lab, many engineering colleges require purchase of laptops so that students can do CAD and projects outside of computer labs, also I need to emphasize that many engineering classes require you to bring a laptop to class... I know that because I just graduated from Engineering and going to medical school...

I was going to order a spare battery, until I realized plugs are everywhere. Even in coach on planes now.

Plus, the M860TU is already rather overweight, can you imagine what a nightmare it'd be with an extra battery?

I don't really see a need of battery, because most places I go I can use power cord.

In addition, its not as if the 8660 will be the baseline required laptop as it will be more powerful than anyone else in class. Unless you really need the graphics power you might be better off with the 2096 and getting 4 hours with still great performance. No class is going to fail you (or even ask you) to render something in "x" seconds. Test would be in workstations anyways.
