Just curious and what are your temps like idle and maxed. Also how do you like it overall? Also is it possible to get a prema bios if you did not get the laptop from a prema vender? I had no idea until after I bought mine from Sager. The neutered bios is kinda disappointing. Thx!

Temps on CPU? GPU? PCH? 7700HQ or 7820HK? Which thermal compound?

Personally, I've liked the P6xxxx-G systems since their release. They do surprisingly well with heat despite their thin profile (thin for a gaming laptop, anyway). Construction quality feels good, keyboard is decent, speakers are OK, no issues with the touchpad, and they're fairly easy to service.

I have the 6820HK and Coollaboratory Ultra compound. At stock voltages, it idles in the mid-upper 30s and gets into the 70s while gaming. It only cracks 80 when under a synthetic AIDA64 stress test that simultaneous maxes out the processor, RAM, and GPU, so basically not in a real-world use scenario. You can overclock the CPU using the stock Clevo BIOS - 4 GHz is possible without having to mess with voltages.

The P6XXX line might be the best overall compromise for price, performance, power consumption, and form factor among gaming notebooks.

Sorry my question was lacking in detail. Yes temps on CPU and GPU. Thermal compound preference etc.

CPU, idle typically around 33 Celsius, load gets it to around 79 - 84 Celsius (subjective, and speaking to the 7700HQ). The 7820HK gets a bit warmer.

GPU in the high 20s Celsius while idle if in Discrete Mode, and a little over 80 Celsius under load - sometimes a few degrees over, sometimes slightly under, depending on the compound.

I have the 7700HQ version with 1070 GPU. My temps initially when gaming would ping up to 90+c. This is in a room with a ambient temp of 65F. The longer the time spent playing the temp would creep up. But I had help from Phoenix here on the forums and he helped get them down by undervolting. I'm wondering if repasting with liquid metal would be worth it or not. I also don't know the longevity of liquid metal.

Ok my temps are similar, cool. I'm OCD and heat freaks me out :) My desktop barely gets over 50C while gaming and when I saw the initial temps on the laptop I starting worrying. This of course is with a undervolt of roughly -130 on the CPU.

Do you only have stock paste on yours? Those jobs are often pretty poor. You shouldn't be hitting 90C with an undervolt if the paste job is decent.

Yes its stock paste for now. Since the undervolt I spike up to 86C, haven't hit the 90's since the undervolt.

Desktops outclass laptops just about any day in air cooling. All that extra space, more heatsink mounting pressure and bigger/more powerful fans make a huge difference. Sounds like your temps are perfectly safe, though!

    Which compound are you using?

I've been thinking of replacing my old MSI GS70 with this beauty... This thread just made my mind and I will go for it.

    Thanks!

I will check if this model does have 2x 2.5" Bay. I'm still thinking if I should buy it with the default disks or not since I have a 500GB~ Samsung 850 Pro which I'm using with my actual laptop. But these are the specs

    Processor
    Kabylake™ i7-7700HQ
    Graphics Video Card
    GTX 1070 (8GB)
    Ram
    16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 2400MHz
    M.2 Slot 1
    256GB SanDisk X400 M.2 SSD
    2.5" Bay 1
    1 x 1TB 7200RPM
    Wireless Networking / Bluetooth
    Intel AC 8265
    Thermal Cooling
    CoolLaboratory Liquid Ultra Thermal Compound

It does have 2x2.5" bays but there are some restrictions on what will properly fit. Check the configurator for options that can mix.

Yeah, just checked on your website. To whoever is in the same position I am... You cannot use the 2 bays if you have a mechanical disk in one, but you can use 2 2.5" SSD, I guess that's because the heat a mechanical disk generates.

For the Desktop, its been awhile but, I think it was Nocturna paste. As for the laptop I have no idea but I'm gonna try something different that's for sure.

That was a good compound in its day. If you're going to repaste, the top dogs are IC Diamond and Gelid GC-Extreme for non-conductive TIMs. You might be able to shave off a couple of extra degrees Celsius by going with a liquid metal compound, but they are electrically conductive.

Just for gaming if it has the GPU the difference will be minimal.

It could be a "short stick" CPU.

Have you tried to troubleshoot it? There are some things you can try to lower temps.

Those are good temps, really. Over 90 Celsius and above are less than ideal.
