    HWinfo or speedfan should have basic fan speed monitoring. Nothing can affect fan speeds though, so there's not much point since there are only two fans that run on auto all the time. The only exception is when you run FN + 1 for max fan speed.

    FN +1 maxes out fan speeds until you tell it otherwise?

    Actually, both Hwinfo and speedfan can change fan speed, not sure though if it works for the P170HM, but both work on my M18x.

    Yes, it will override the auto fan speed and bump them to max.

    Right, but they don't on any new Clevo models, which is why I pointed it out. The EC (embedded controller) which drives the fans does not yet interface with any software programs available. You are stuck with Bios automated fan speed or manual max speed until that happens, if ever.
