    Wondering when 800mhz ram will be available as an option on Sager notebooks? Any info?

    DDR2-800 can be used in any of the notebooks (Santa Rosa).... but it wont matter since it will be downclocked to 667.

    Only notebooks using desktop Core 2 Duo's [w/ desktop Intel 965 chipset] can utilize the DDR2-800.... but it does not matter really since the performance gain is little and not noticeable in day to day usage.

    I went over this in the RAM Deals thread as well.

    AMD's X2 mobile processor can accept 800mhz DDR2 SoDimm modules as well and utilize it, but for Intel, as Gophn mentioned, it'll downclock itself if you have a current-gen Core 2 Duo, until when Penryn comes out, perhaps then, in....uhh late this year early next?

    You're right, Santa Rosa with 965 (ICH9) chipset maxes out @ 667mhz.

    Now, it's just a wait for the 8700 GTX before I take the plunge.

    Basically, only the C90 and D901C can make full use of it atm.
