I'm not sure where to post this, I hope this is the right place.
My sager 9130 is just a week old, and everything is running great when I use it. However, for some dumb reason, about half the time I wake the comp up from sleep mode I discover that it turned off on it's own, and upon booting up windows gives the whole improper shutdown message, do you want to run in safe mode.
I have updated windows and I'm using the proper drivers, I have no idea how to figure out what the problem is. Anyone experience this before? Ideas? It's just kind of annoying that sleep mode doesn't seem to work.

I had an instance where it went into sleep mode and would not wake up from it, even though both lights were green on the right corner of the laptop. I made sure that in my power mode that the laptop would not turn off the display or sleep for 5 hours. You can make it never sleep/turn off display, though.

Crashing during sleep has happened to me a few times (along with, on maybe three occasions, the laptop BSODing when the screen is closed and then getting really hot for no apparent reason), though not anywhere near that frequently (I haven't been keeping logs, but it's definitely less than one time in five). I suspect that it's a driver issue, though I don't have any proof.
Sager hasn't updated any of the drivers since the NP9130 was released back in May, as far as I can tell, but I'm hoping that whenever they do it fixes the issue. -
That's called hibernation my friend. I disable sleep and hibernation no matter what. Its never worked properly

Go to your Control Panel -> Power Options -> Click the 'Change plan settings' link next to your picked power plan -> Click the 'Change advanced power settings' link.
In that list make sure your 'Hard disk' -> 'Turn off hard disk after' is both set to 'Never'.
In the same list expand 'Sleep' -> 'Allow hybrid sleep' and make sure it is off. Still under the 'Sleep' section make sure that 'Allow wake timers' are both set to 'Disable'. Click OK and this should be fine.
If it doesn't help, then it has something to do with your drivers, especially if they are the latest Beta drivers. On this laptop I have an unofficial driver, and it sometimes doesn't light up the screen after I open the lid which forces me to restart and stuff like that.
And yeah, the USB points that arg8 mentioned might also help as well -
For resume from sleep issues, some USB hub, peripherals, etc. have to be set such that
"Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unticked also... -
Thanks for all the quick replies guys. I made the hard drive changes and unplugged my usb mouse, and after three tests in sleep mode it didn't crash at all. I'm betting the problem was the usb port. Hopefully that solved it. Thanks again

I thought SSD drives didn't like sleep.. Perhaps that's changed? I never sleep my laptop anyways

You can imagine that if wake triggers like that occur when your laptop is in a bag, it will quickly overheat and have a thermal shutdown ("windows was not properly shut-down", etc...) -
Yeah, this is not an iPad, I generally don't advise putting laptops on sleep as it's not well implemented. Just shut it down. You have a SSD, boot times are pretty short as it is and if you only move it short distances just keep it running.
I only use Hibernation on this old and slow laptop because it indeed shortens the boot time and makes sure the laptop is completely shut down, that's the only compromise I allow it.
Anyone else's Sager always turning off by itself in sleep mode?
