Anyone have a BIOS update for the M570u?

I just bought 4gb of ram for myself as a gift over the holidays, and they installed in my m570u without a hitch. I had Xp Pro 32bit installed, so I didn't sweat it when the system POST'd with 4gb, but the OS saw 3gb.

But, after installing Xp Pro x64, it still says 3gb.

So, I pop into BIOS and I quickly realize that not only is it fairly limiting as far as general tweakability, but the BIOS itself limits the OS to 3017mb of ram even though it recognizes the full 4gb.

xVx, the vendor, is going through some kind of disgustingly enormous revamp, with little indication that they will ever be helpful. Online and Phone support is unreachable.

So I'm hoping someone out there can hook me up with a bios and flash utility that at the very least wont leave me with a monolithic paperweight, but might even allow my 64bit OS to see the ram I bought.

    Thanks in advance!

    I thought we over this.

Notebooks with a mobile 945 chipset (Napa platform) can only see up to 3GBs of RAM.... even though you can occupy 2 x 2GB in the slots.

It is due to the low-level limitation of the chipset. So no matter which OS you use, it will not matter.

The current Santa Rosa platform notebooks (mobile 965 chipset) can see the 4GBs fine.

You guys might have been over it a million times, I dunno. I did a few searches, got nothing, and posted. Whenever I buy a system I make it a point to ignore technology for a year or so to protect my fragile buyer's remorse.

Regardless I had completely forgot it was a 32bit chipset, and when bios reported the 4gb, I immediately jumped on the OS as the limiting factor. But then.... 3017mb? I thought 945 could handle 3.2gb? That would be like, 300 more mb than I'm getting.

I've been spending most of my time on a Precision 4300 as of late, which plays games surprisingly well for what it is. I much prefer the 15.4" form factor for lugging around, and my next Clevo will probably be smaller as a result.
