Please post your hard drive model, temperature, and system configuration.
I'm trying to see if there is a hard drive configuration that does not overheat.

I have the 500GB 5400RPM...
-
It's never more than 55...

I believe I have the Hitachi 320GB 7200

Western Digital 320gb 7200
normal idle 51c
defrag and virus scan can go upto 61-62c but this is normal -
I wouldn't consider a 62C hard-drive normal... actually it is pretty abnormal and a couple of degrees above the manufacturers rated limits.
But these issues have already been discussed many times in other threads. -
My WD500BEVT stays in the mid to upper 40's.

62c for normal use as you say is not normal. -
320GB Western Digital 7200RPM
Idle: 40C
Heavy HD activity: 45-50C
Gaming: 44-45C -
A bit off topic, that 260m GTX runs pretty cool. My 9800m GT idles at 50. -
I have the seagate 7200.3 320GB
On idle when the laptop is on all day it is at 45c, and max I've seen is wile playing l4d for 2hrs and it got to 53c -
Seagate 7200.3 320GB
Around 50C most of the time while doing basic activities like web browsing and updating software - goes a bit below 50C when just idle. Highest temperatures thus far have been around 57C after having been gaming for 3+ hours straight.
I will continue to monitor temperatures. I am not currently using a notebook cooler and I would expect temperatures to be a bit lower upon usage of a notebook cooler. -
I too have a Seagate momentus 7200.3 and it idles at about 50-55c. When I play games or there is heavy hd activity it can reach the high 50s and just about just 60 once in a while. Lately its been running cool tho I think its because my room is cool.
Anyone have a cool hard drive in np8662/8660?
