    well it depends :D i know two kinds of those, the first would be more like the transparent foil part of your picture, which would go onto the top or bottom side of your drive, depending on its orientation after installation.

    the other part im familiar with looks more like the two black stripes on your picture, they would serve as sticky protective layers on the long sides of the drive (cutouts being for the screw holes)

    They also serve as washers so the ssd doesn't move in its place if by any chance the storage lid doesn't make contact with the ssd in order to keep them firmly in place. At least that's what I use them for in my p751dm-g.

    The foam can also help reduce vibration noise from mechanical hard drives :)

    If you are unsure get your reseller to walk you through it. The screw holes on the other type should make that obvious where it goes :)

    Those pieces are to fill in the space difference between a 7mm and a 9.5mm SSD or hard drive, to fill the gap.

    It goes in the hard drive bracket in the laptop. Of course, you may not ever have a reason to use these... :)

    I don't see the screw holes on the one in the OP's pic. @Phoenix - Does that white strip peel away? That could be an adhesive for affixing the plastic to the drive.

    @Prostar Computer @Meaker@Sager @Larry@LPC-Digital @jaybee83

    I don't know if this is a coinsidence or not, but a couple of days after I posted this thread, EUROCOM sent me the disassembly guide which has this illustration. So these foams are for 7.5mm HDDs not for regular 9mm HDDs that I have (2TB Samsung Spinpoint 5400RPM)

    @Phoenix - If it wasn't coincidence that they sent that info to you, good for them for following up!

    I should have known it was on page 33 of the service manual. Oh well :)
