The Sager np8662 has been discontinued and replaced by the new model which is the Sager np8690.

There's plenty in the marketplace. AFAIK, NBR members usually take good care of their rig, and it is oftentimes owned for less than a year.

Multicom.no carries it with limited configuration and of course, Norwegian prizes.

260m or 280m if possible. I would settle for a 8800/9800 if the price was right

I've heard a lot of bad things about them. Have you used them? If they are legit I would use them. They dont seem to be listed on the BBB and their reseller ratings are terrible

Save up some more money and buy something else from a more reputable seller than eurocom.

I wouldn't go for Eurocom, you might end up being shipped a BBC Micro. Why are you not wanting to get the updated model anyway?

The base configuration doesn't cost more than the NP8662 as far as I know.

I purchased my M860TU from Eurocom, which I later got them to upgrade to an M860 ETU so I could install my QX9300. I've had nothing but excellent service from them.

I my be biased since I also purchased for a very low price. :D

You can order the W860CU with no OS, then install your own copy of XP.

Who needs Sager? You can easily find the necessary drivers all over the interwebs. Besides, Windows will download mostly everything you need upon installation.

Well, Clevo the real manufacturer didn't publish XP drivers for the W8xxCU, so you will never find special drivers for these machines. Only you can find some GENERAL drivers from the manufacturers of the devices that compose the notebook, but be aware most of these devices are modified for Clevo so using non-OEM drivers could not be adequate like the touchpad and the webcam.

    @IrishSJ

Why do you specifically need XP?

Won't XP Mode in Windows 7 do?

7 is a great OS and is highly compatible but using XP Mode in 7 Pro/Ultimate isnt for gaming and certain older games need XP 32 bit to run efficiently. I would like to dual boot XP Pro 32 and 7 Pro 64

What games are you referring to?

I run many older games on my Windows 7 OS. Also don't forget that the mobile i7 will work well with old games even if they only use a single or Dual Core.

Yes, I have nary an issue with Windows 7 running ANY Windows XP games. It's Windows 95, 98, ME stuff that I always struggle with in XP, Vista, OR 7. I'd highly recommend the new NP8690 if you can swing it. Otherwise if you really want an NP8662, I'll sell you mine for $1521.15 (base price for NP8690 ;) ). I'm soon to put a quad core Q9200 in it too.

One of the games is Splinter Cell Chaos Theory(online). There is a "fix" for Win 7 that doesnt work for the spy vs mercenary multiplayer section of it. Certain emulators act strange under Win 7 for me as do older games like Final Fantasy 7. On my desktop I have a dual boot and i'd like to have the same setup for my laptop.

Seriously? I have an XP Pro OEM license, and would gladly buy an OEM license to 7 Professional if you're really serious. Ultimate doesn't really offer any advantages over Pro except for BitLocker. I use my TechNet license for Win7 so can't ship that with the machine.

I'll do the install and setup and everything...

You have to realize though that "XP mode" doesn't support direct3d or any hardware acceleration whatsoever. So any games that may be incompatible with 7, and need d3d, just wouldn't run in xp mode, period. It's nothing more than Virtual PC for 7.

I want to dual boot XP 32 and Win 7 64. I know everyone wants to act like 7 is the 2nd coming and no other OS is necessary but I have 7 on one of my partitions on my desktop and there are plenty of things that are not compatible. I'm sure once service pack 2 comes out everything will be perfect but by then Microsoft will have another OS on the way.

Point is I DO want 7 I just also want FULL XP with direct 3d etc etc not XP mode with pro/ultimate 7.

    Thank you.

Just out of curiousity, what apps aren't working with Windows 7?
