Just wondering... I think Steve returned his M860TU but I'm not sure if I will or not.

Are there any heat related issues or problems in general with the M570TU? I've been going back and reading and so far it seems like the only complaint was the fan noise. The fan noise on the M860TU doesn't bother me. I'm aware of the fan toggle on the M570TU, but is the fan noise on the M570TU the same or is it louder than the M860TU?

My 5793 fan drove me nuts! The 8660 is nice and quiet.

I can't speak for the M570TU, but the M860TU is really quite quiet. It's really not too noticeable.

For some perspective, the DVD drive, when loading whatever, will be 4-5x as loud as the fan and completely drown it out. The DVD drive isn't much louder than the one on on PowerBook G4, if that gives any sort of baseline for you.

@ Blade: Well, the M570TU would be the NP5796 (refresh of the NP5793). Are you saying they both use the same fans?

NP5793 and NP5796 use the same fans, yes.
The whole NP579x / M570XX series use the same fans.

the fans on my 5793 don't bother me too much. I guess it's all just relative. Yeah...they're way louder than most laptops, but that's just cause they're doing their job. Just cause they're louder than usual doesn't mean they're so loud as to be really distracting...at least not in my opinion.

Okay, from what I gathered so far... the fans on the M570TU are louder than the fans on the M860TU. Now what about the problems... if any?

whats wrong with the M860TU? did you not see Chaz's preview? those temps are fine.
Also, theres no heating issues on the 570, but i do remember that the 570RU's had a thing called the green jack of death. I wonder if that was carried on to the next generation.

Well I traded in my 5793 back in July for the 5796 with the GTX. Still waiting for it.

The eee PC 901 makes a great companion system!

Temps in 86 are still too high compare to 57, not good for hareware health. So i think i´d continue to use my 57RU.

    Yea, what is that?

So far, my M570TU is problem/trouble free but all I have donme so far is play The Witcher.

Speaking of that game, has anyone else played it?

Man, it should be rated X

It has as much §ex in it as a Sharon Stone movie.

The 579x series are notorious for the green audio jacks going out like the week you get it. Retarded.
