Alright, my 7970 is hitting 84C playing Rage max settings.. Isnt that way too high? Should i consider reapplying better thermal paste? Also is there a tutorial on how to? Pretty sure i dont need one, but it would always be nice with one :)

    Cheers!

84C is still a good operating temperature. Your laptop has a thermal shutdown of about 110C, so you really shouldn't worry too much about it.

As far as guides for applying thermal paste, You can find out HERE

Arctic Silver 5 will work, but make sure none gets anywhere outside the chip, this is a conductive thermal paste and will ruin your computer.

ATM I use Gelid GC Extreme, seems to work for me.

What drivers are you using or settings? I have a m18x R2 with 7970m Crossfire and the game runs laggy with crossfire on and off. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks you.

You should ask your question in the Alienware part of the forum. Might get some help there.

I did a search of the forum, not many results come up. Only person who seems to not have issue with rage is Feddy. But yeah he is not on a alienware :(

I recommend you to hire a professional to apply the thermal compound for you. Those pictures look like easy to do, but it is not.

I disagree, it's super easy. Remove heatsink, clean it off. Apply a miniscule amount of ICD7 in the center. Screw on heatsink. Done. Super easy.

It's slightly capacitive not conductive. Not the same thing, and it's a good TIM (albeit ancient) the conductive thing is a geek myth.
