    Hi,

Some of the resellers(Malibal and Xotic are two I noticed) list the graphics card as "User Upgradeable" for the Clevo/Sager's I've looked at. Is this just marketing hype or do folks really do this over time?

For example, let's say I buy a p170EM/np9170 with the GTX 670M. If it is "user upgradeable", I assume I can buy a GTX 675M or maybe some newer GPU down the road. Is this a valid assumption? And where would I go to buy the GPU?

    Cheers.

You got it exactly right. You can take out the existing GPU and put in a new compatible one. Its impossible to say if the new cards 2-3 years down the road will work but with previous models they did support GPU's for 3-4 generations. The problem is finding them sold individually, they're not like desktop cards where there are dozens of sites you can order them from. If you did find one and it was compatible you can take out the old and put in the new. I wouldn't say its marketing hype as there are alot of people on this forum that have done it.

    Yes

We've tested the 670/675m in the old HM shells, and they work fine. For buying them? Send us a PM we sell them.

Can we assume the new GTX680/7970 GPU's will work as upgrades to the current Nvidia 670?

I don't think we will really know until those cards are available.

If the past is any indication, they should work if offered with that laptop.
