I just bought a pretty basic wireless logitech m325, not sure what to measure regarding performance, it seems OK when i use it, does buying the real gaming wireless mouse makes a significant difference? also i dont like the 'resistance' of the scroll wheel on this model, its too smooth and sensitive.

A good mouse makes a huge difference. It's strangely enough one of those things (in addition to keyboard/speakers on a desktop) that people tend to forget about. I swear by the logitech gaming mice myself, though I've seen others enjoy Razer, etc. You get (often) higher DPI that you can change on the fly, macros, extra buttons, laser instead of optical, weight cartridges, and so on. There can be as many extras and features as some laptops
Cheap mice tend to "skip" and can have iffy range. That and obviously they can be pretty bare bones. -
Basic wireless mice are good for everyday use but not for gaming. An investment in a great mouse can last you a decade, it's one thing not to be stingy on in my opinion.
As Malibal said Logitech has great mice Logitech - Choose your mouse, i've personally never owned any other mouse for gaming and i have zero regrets. -
Having the teflon pads on the bottom of the mouse along with a proper gaming mousepad makes life much better. I have a small approx 8 inch square non stick type surface mousepad I keep with my laptop all the times. Its small and ultrathin so its easy to pack around and provides a great surface to use a high quality mouse on so you dont wear out the teflon pads on the bottom. It glides over the pad effortlessly. I also have some other mice I bought on sale, specifically laptop optical mice by Logitech with a slot for the usb stick that turns off the mouse and stores it when not in use. THere ok to use, some even have the teflon pads too.
Are basic wireless mouses good nowadays?
