I'm thinking about purchasing a Sager laptop, however I never seen a company offer 30 day dead-pixel protection - and at such a high price.

Are Sager's known to have serious dead pixel issues?

    Thanks,
    Rich

No, it is just that most companies won't even offer you a dead pixel warranty, and you have to rely on their rather difficult to find "dead pixel policy".

Notice that if you bundle it with an extended warranty the price comes way down.

Sager's dead pixel policy varies with some of the models. For more detailed information, give me a call during business hours (877-771-1777) and we can discuss which model you are interested in, and how the dead pixel policy and dead pixel guarantee would work for that model.

Hey Rich, you're not the first person to see the, "Zero Dead Pixel Guarantee," and think it's a poor reflection on the quality of Sager displays. However, it's nothing of the sort.

In fact, Sager has one of the better Dead Pixel Policies. They will replace a display with 4 or more dead pixels. Compare that to 6 or more dead (dark) pixels before Dell will replace the LCD.

ive personally called dell and told them i had one pixel out on a couple occasions and they gladly without question sent out another display.. they say 6 but trust me they will replace them pretty easy thats one thing about dell..

If u order a WUXGA screen(1920x1200) nd if by ne chance it gets a dead or a stuck pixel, it would hardly be noticeable!! :)

I too had the same doubt as u when i was in the preliminary stages of ordering the notebook!

I decided to go for it anyway! no dead or stuck pixel!! :D ;)

My 9262 had a "stuck" pixel and it was very annoying and noticeable so I returned the machine in the 30 day window for full credit.

make your backround a solid color like white or black and look it over see if you see any bright green red or blue specks or any black ones on the white screen

If he hasn't noticed any, then why would he want to look for one?

If he finds one then he'll always see it after that...

With the holiday sale and $100 off with an extended warranty, the price is really low compared to the standard $200. I mean, its $290 for a 3year warranty+No dead pixel and $260 for a 3year warranty w/o dead pixel insurance. That's really a great deal compared to what I paid.

lol... may be that if I dont see any pixel dead, I shouldn't look for any one :D

in any case, i am looking for a bad pixel now. I put the screen in all solid colors and nothing. I can't see any pixel in other color... I supose that a pixel dead or bad will be very very little in a 1920x1200 screen, true?

If im not wrong, a dead pixel would be 1/1920 of the screen wideness or 1/1200 of the screen height... which is small but I guess it's still annoying.

Im the kinda of people who like perfect things and it would be very annoying for me. I love my display, its so colorfull vs other notebook brands and I have hopefully no dead pixel and I have not taken the DPW.

edit : A pixel on my screen(14.5 wide) is approx 0.00755 inch

Yeah, but Zfactor, you're a connoisseur of LCDs, unlike most of us.

To the OP: for what it's worth (careful what you ask for :D), there are utilities you can use to check for dead/stuck pixels such as Astris dpl.

or dead pixel buddy works great and is simple..

i guess but even my mom just bought a 32" lcd for her house and she called me and asked what this little black dot was on her tv. after she explained it more i knew what it was and i told her bring it back if you cant live with it because its not coming back once its dead.. she is the last person to ever bother looking for stuff but she said it stuck out like a sore thumb.. and that was 1 pixel on a 32" lcd

Indeed, there have been many users (especially the first ones) that have reported dead pixels. But I think there have also been a lot of them who had a great screen and didn't say anything.

Keep in mind, a pixel on a 32" LCD that is 720p, is about 8 times bigger than a pixel on a WUXGA display.

a pixel on a 32" LCD that is 480p, is almost 25 times bigger.

I have a stuck red pixel. It is a little irritating on dark backgrounds, but hard to see otherwise. I don't want to wait a for a replacement.

i have 1 stuck... have had it since i got the system... you can only see against black... doesn't really bother me because its so small and after almost a year I have gotten used to it...

sorta bothered me at first but I got over it quickly, its really quite minuscule.

I had a stuck green pixel and I head the warranty. I return the notebook and they replaced the panel and then I saw again a stuck green pixel. Instead of returning it again they gave my a Laser mouse :) and a stuck pixel can be fixed by gently tapping it.
