Are dead pixels really a problem with Sager?

I've owned numerous laptops - Dell, Lenovo, and an HP over the years and I've never had a problem with dead pixels.

I'm considering buying a Sager and this is first time I've seen "0 Dead Pixel" guarantees as a support option.

Are dead pixels really that big of a problem with new Sager laptops?

I've seen plenty of Dell's, Lenovo's, and HP's at retail stores have dead pixels on their screens. Sager just happens to offer a dead pixel warranty for perfectionists. It's kind of like how Apple users want to protect all their junk at the very beginning and wanted everything flawless.

I don't feel like lecturing about how LCD manufacturers have certain tolerances to follow so I'll leave that up to you to research.

In short, dead pixels can be found in all laptops.

Not at all. Sure there can be the occasional lemon (just like any other notebook), but they're generally pretty good. You don't really need the 0 Dead Pixel guarantee, it simply makes it easy if your screen shows up with any issues, or if you want a perfect screen. Most haven't had any trouble.

Agreed. The chance of receiving a screen with a dead pixel is uncommon, but not rare. The possibility is still prevelant enough for some to go with the dead pixel warranty. I'd say it is up to luck whether one gets a "flawed" panel or not. My luck seems to be pretty good; the WUXGA panel that shipped with my laptop didn't have any dead pixels and I did not opt for the dead pixel warranty.

To make you feel a little better, I got my laptop about 2 weeks ago and didn't have a single dead pixel.

My 5792 had a dead pixel from the beginning . I was a little upset , but since it is 2 inches from the left border in the middle of the screen i rarely see it . The pixel stays blue on black and dark colored pictures/games/movies . As long as the picture is colorful i dont really see it .

Plus id much rather have my laptop with perfect everything else than getting into nonsense BS over 1 little pixel and having to wait another week/month for my laptop .

But mostly people have great screens with no dead pixels , browse the boards , you almost never see users whining about dead pixels .

I was very worried about dead pixels too when I made my D901C purchase, but luckily I recieved it without any dead pixels at all. Dead pixels are not more common or uncommon on Sager computers than others, it's just that if you're making a 2000-5000 dollar 17" investment, having a dead pixel on your screen might annoy you more than it else would.

I have 1 stuck pixel in the lower corner of the screen (green) which was a bummer at first but it's not noticeable in 99% of circumstances.
So it does happen, If you get a stuck/dead pixel which would be in the middle of the screen and it would be noticeable all the time you can always return it stuck/dead pixel warrenty or not, you can always return an item if it isn´t to your liking within a time limit ofc.

What Athinu said. As another member once explained: often the price for the dead pixel insurance policy is more than the cost of shipping the laptop back and getting it replaced as much as 2 times.

So unless you have the incredible (un)luck of getting dead pixels both times (after which any time you can opt back into the insurance), you're better off not getting the insurance and simply shipping it back for replacement should you have a dead pixel.

I recieved mine with one dead/stuck pixel in the very bottom right corner, it can only be seen on a black screen, it doesnt bother me at all to be honest, i wasnt paying the price for the no dead pixel warranty. So its alittle unlucky but im not crying over it.

When I received my M860TU back in October of last year, it came with a stuck pixel (green in colour).
To be honest, I hardly ever notice it, only on a black/dark screen.

However, I often use my HDTV for gaming, so I see it even less now :p

My sager NP9262 was completely fine. It would have cost $300 for the warranty, but I used the money to upgrade other parts.

I just noticed i have a dead pixel. The screen resolution is so big, and monitor so small, that its hard to notice. I found this dead pixel remover, has it worked for anyone?

Yeah, i had it on for 10 minutes'ish while i was afk, nothing. It did however "remove" the pixel because i was staring at all the flashing lights, my vision got all screwy and i couldn't spot the pixel.

yes dead pixels are well... dead just like in real life you don't have any chance on reviving them.
There have been accounts of people trying to revive them, but what came out of that wasnt natural it shouldnt have been alive....

To be serious tho the stuck pixel removal software didnt do anything for my stuck (not dead) pixel think you'll have 2% chance on unstucking a stuck pixel.

I have once been able to revive a stuck pixel on my Hyundai L90D+ monitor that was stuck green by using jscreenfix at the same time as a physical massage. It came back about a month later, so I did it again and I haven't seen it since (about 3 years ago :D)

hmm physical massage sounds a bit tacky especially with a laptop.

ive done the massage thing I used software I whispered sweet words in the line in I ran my fingers over the touchpad lovingly.... nothing
So I gues my notebook plays hard to get, I got her all these new things like a faster cpu and a new sleek ssd but still it isn't enough for her :(

In the end I guess I will have to live with her little green beauty mark or put a bag over her head when I play with her.
