I'm looking at laptops to buy for college, and I've been shuffling between the Macbook Pro and the NP2090/IFL90. The graphics card issue is confusing me, because it seems that the MBP offers a 128MB or 256MB chip, while the IFL90 has a 512MB chip.

Does the 512MB 8600GT have a 256MB Turbocache, which gives it 512MB of "effective" memory? Or does it have 512MB of physical memory, making for 3 different iterations of the same GPU?

The IFL90 has 512MB on the card...it does not use TurboCache.

Are the clock speeds still standard, or are they also boosted?

Since production models have not come in yet we don't know where they are clocked.
