I've been using my new laptop for a few weeks now, and in terms of everything except for the 7970M underutilization and a few other GPU bugs (I'm looking at you, Dolphin), I'm very happy with my computer. However, the 2.5 hour battery life is atrocious, and might not serve me well in any classes without electrical outlets. Are there any external batteries compatible with the NP9150 that can provide at least another 2 to 4 hours of life with the 7970M turned off? If the requested life is unreasonable, what other external batteries are there available for the computer?

I'm not sure about external batteries. You can buy a second battery if you want and carry it around and swap them out when one starts dying, but that is a bit of a hassle.

You can probably do some things to improve battery life though. I can get around 3.5-4 hours personally. Change the power mode to power saver, turn off the keyboard backlight, lower screen brightness, disable wireless, close unnecessary apps, etc.

I would also like to know this, and if not, how much battery life can you get out of these machines by losing the extras? I'll be using mine at University, but I can put it on sleep after lectures and whatnot..

Agreed, try to max out your battery life by turning on any battery saving option in your laptop.

A small netbook with good battery life is a better option for class than carrying an extra battery around IMO

Make sure there's no dGPU monitoring programs running in the background as monitoring is the same as using the dGPU (ThrottleStop's GPU temp monitoring will prevent dGPU from shutting down too).

There are no external batteries available, you could get a second one as Hurricane9 mentioned. To get longer battery life you do want to set the power scheme to battery save mode and turn off your wireless card when you dont need internet access. If you could find a spot in one of your classes mid day get one close to a power outlet and bring your AC Adapter, it wont be much more of a hassle then another battery.

Fair enough; I was just being a little hopeful. From what I've heard, there are outlets that the students can use, so I'm probably going to be bringing my brick to class and whatnot. Thanks anyways!
