All us folks with 5793's and below... we have dominated this forum for several months... but I feel soon we will be exiled, forced to give way to the new members who are buying the new systems....

Are we becoming obsolete? Not just our machines, but US! the people behind them?

omg was this thread completely misunderstood...

    1. I dont mean ME dominating I mean all the old 5792/5793 users and such since thats all there was for a while... all the posts have been about those 2 models.
    2. Im seriously wondering, since the chassis on the 5796 is pretty significantly different, and all the components are really really different DDR3 vs. DDR2 8800's 9800's ect. Will we be sorta obsolete on the forums?
    3. Since all that is diff. do the 5792/93 users insights hold any sway over the newer members since we arent using the newer systems?

    oh and whats the jab at my post and rep count? who cares i mean I guess grats on your 1,308 posts and 11 rep, if that makes you feel better - you must be a real cool guy! ;

this just showed me a whole new side to some people in the community and im really surprised.. not in a good way.

    jeez folks...

C'mon guys, give some respect. I don't see in any way how he was referring to post count, reputation or just himself in person. What he meant was, "are we members with notebooks older than the Sager 5793 and under going to be outnumbered" soon, and my answer to that is, yes, technology moves fast and its impossible to keep up with it.

And onto the other issue, there should never be any disrespect because one member has less post count or reputation than another. It does not mean the more senior member is more knowledgeable or should have more influence on the forum. All the post count means is that one member has posted more.

Ok let me spell it out for you, the 5793 is not obsolete.....the 9800m gt = the 8800m gtx. The base montevina cpu scores 500-600 points lower than a xtreme cpu. Here is a montevina laptop tested with a 3650
and here is a dell with santa rosa using a 3650
cpu doesn't affect gaming unless its at low resolutions or you use a crappy cpu. The only thing special is that the 5796 will use a 9800m gtx, but it should work in the 5793 also. now quit whining....

Once Nehalem is released, everyone here is going to be obsolete, in a much more substantial way since none of the current systems here will be able to upgrade to a Nehalem-class CPU. In short, we're all living on borrowed time, and the only question is, who's closer to the grave? :D :D :D

P.S. Garandhero's question was legitimate, if a little strongly worded, and ought to have been accorded a little more respect than was actually given.

TBH. I worded it that way because I thought it would be funny adding a little dramatic tone to it..

I guess that doesnt fly with some people. Anywho, thanks bwhxeon despite your obvious lack of sincerity i appreciate the info.

If that works for you then it's great, right?
Nowdays any CPU works great for browsing the net, music, movies and such. If you need more then you pay more :).

Your right it was misunderstood. When you say you've been 'dominating' something you better have something to back it back up.

As for 5793 owners you'll come and go like any others. Those people who've been around the board for awhile can attest that most users pop in only to have specific questions answered and then leave, never to show back up on the forums so long as their notebook is running fine.

The others find a decent community that they like to participate in, barring real life events intruding, and will continue to give/take from said community.

Sorry if you found my making fun of your 'dominating' but the internet is not the best place for being able to discern 'context' behind words. That and you might want to pick a term that more aptly applies than 'dominating'.

You left out the group of people who tend to lurk rather than comment once their ability to intelligently comment on recent developments has eroded due to hardware falling behind the times, real life events intruding, etc...

Anyway, regarding the topic of this thread, buy when the upgrade with worth the money and try not to cry when something better comes along. Such is the way of things. It should be expected but neither feared nor waited on.

If Sager/Clevo offers a upgrade path for the NP5793 to the NP5796, then NO, we are not obsolete...

You are only obsolete if you feel you are. Do not let the opinion of others (especially total strangers on the internet) tell you what you are. Unless they have lots of rep!!!! <sarcasm
