    Hi,

As written in my previous thread, Clevo has recently (1 week ago) replaced both of my 7970m's. I'm using a Clevo P370EM with 16GB RAM and Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

After getting my laptop back, I noticed weird problems that occur while browsing, mostly if there's Flash videos or the Flash player involved in general. The same problem occurs when watching videos using a HTML5 video player.

The weird thing is that the Benchmarks work perfectly fine, I can play games like BF3 / BF4 for hours without any problems and an excellent performance. That's why I think that it's a software problem. I'm not entirely sure though.

I did a Windows 7 reinstallation and captured a video of the effects (link below). What you see in this video is a blank Win7 installation, the only thing that I've installed are some Windows updates and the drivers.

I would be very happy if anyone could help resolve the problem. The only thing that works so far is disabling hardware acceleration in Flash. Then, I can watch youtube videos for hours without any problems.

    Thanks very much in advance,
    Chris

What you see there is that a youtube video causes the effects to appear. When I close the browser in the background, the effects slowly start to disappear. Sometimes, this doesnt work and a reboot is needed. I've never had any bluescreens so far, though. The only thing that I saw were a few messages in the task bar that the "AMD driver got stuck and was fixed".

EDIT: Forgot to add something: This does not occur every time. It happens very often though, around every 2nd or third time you start a flash application. On websites which use flash content, theres sometimes just a small flickering and the entire screen doesn't go "wibbly-wobbly" yet.

    Hi everyone,

I have a lot of updates. After testing and playing around a lot, I found out that this flickering is caused by any kind of browser-like application (including Thunderbird) but only if hardware acceleration is enabled.

Turning off hardware acceleration on iexplore, Opera, Firefox and Thunderbird fixes the issues on all of those applications (yeah it happened on Thunderbird too!)

What's more is that now, Flash videos work again including hardware acceleration. It seems to be an issue with the hardware acceleration on those browsers only. Also, HTML 5 videos work again as soon as the hardware acceleration is disabled.

I'm far from being an expert but I've read on one website that the cause of this could be that the browsers force a way higher clock speed (can be seen on GPU-Z!) "suddenly" which could cause the card to be underpowered for a second. This could be the reason for the flickering.

I would be happy if anyone could help me resolve this issue.

    Thanks in advance.

Have you tried updating your video drivers?

If updating the video driver doesn't work, try a clean removal of them and then install the most current available (you can either do a clean removal manually or you can try Revo Uninstaller).
