Hi everyone,
I have a P650SE with 8GB RAM and 970m, 3k Display.
I'm trying to use it with a cheap korean display, the manufacturer states that they are not compatible with laptops and require a desktop Graphics Card. To hook it up with my laptop I had to use a Dual-Link Display port to DVI adapter. ( http://www.apple.com/ca/shop/product/MB571LL/A/mini-displayport-to-dual-link-dvi-adapter).
I'm having issues gaming and alt-tabbing while using the external display(game crashes, resolution problems after alt-tab, etc). Also I dont seem to be able to game on one screen while watching netflix on the other.
Do you think my issues come from the fact that my laptop is not powerful enough or is it that I use this cheap korean display.
Thanks!
Charles

Are you getting any type of errors or blue screen messages when it crashes? Your laptop should be powerful enough, mine isn't as powerful as that and I can game and watch shows on another screen. It might be related to that screen though, do you know what screen model it is?

Yes the display is a qnix qx2710.
EDIT: No, I don't get specific errors. Sometimes when I alt-tab from game to desktop and try to get back in the game the screen goes from solid white to solid red to solid green, blue and loops through these colors. It never happens when I play on the laptops integrated display only.
2nd Edit: Should I use the Display Port or the HDMI? Would there be a difference in performance?Last edited: Sep 6, 2015 -

If you can use display port, I would use that over HDMI. But yes, it is worth trying one of those out and seeing if you get the same issues occurring.
Asking too much of my P650SE?
