what do you mean different problem? -
When will people realise it's the ing game's problem and not the card?

If it's the game's fault, why does it run fine on Nvidia/older AMD cards?

The extra money you pay for nvidia goes into the driver support and all the extra features. Consider that next time you buy a CheapMD product!
Now let the hate commence for telling the truth! -
What I mean is that it's not ONLY the 7970m. It's something common to many other cards.

It doesnt run well on my 680... not at all, Im talking 35-40 frames here, low utilization, should be atleast 60 imo.

yeah I'm definitely not buying anything from ubisoft ever again, nothing works far cry runs like crap too now. Their Rayman series was really good until the new sidescrollers came again aka origins.
-
Don't know if you guys are aware of it but you can disable v-sync in one of the inf's. This gives me 90+% utilisation with my 680m on the frontier map. Boston still has issues but turning off v-sync has definitely given me a bump in fps. I'm sure the 7970m would benefit from this as well. I can't remember how I did it but I do remember it was straight forward. Google should be able to help.
-
Im already turned off and you can see my benefits from that in last page... And what ever i cahnge even 800x600 stil same 2% 16% max 20%
elsewhere i got about 60-40 fps. Until boston.... then usage went down.... http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/697384-assassins-creed-iii-major-7970m-performance-issues-6.html#post9083060
And core goes to 300Mhz memory goes to 150Mhz and every secound it jumping to max and min. is it becous of low usage it thinks that nothins is runing? -

I duno what i did but now its 20-60 fps when i look to the ground usage goes up to 100% when I look straight its 20 fps but with 40% 50% usage.

So I've finally gotten around to playing this absolute wonderfully optimized game. The variety of FPS isn't even my problem with it going from 18 to 60 and everything in between (generally stays around 25-30). It's the fact that I can't play it without it freaking crashing every god damned 30 minutes. Steam has me logged at 6 hours in the game, but at least 3 of those hours are me replaying missions.

Yeah it's not pretty and ubisoft are saying they want to focus on PC more apparently, they need to work on their coding if so.
-
Just tried installing this game on my friend's notebook with a GTX 460M last week, and you know what, it worked perfectly smooth at Full HD and Normal settings, even in Boston and everywhere else in the game. My P150EM with 7970M cannot get over 30 FPS at any setting or res in Boston, what a joke. I'm not really sure if it is the fault of AMD or Ubisoft, or maybe both, lol.

so has there been any news on this front? i really wanna play this game but its just so ty dangling around 30 fps all the time...

Thanks for that. Yeah, it's atidxx32 which happens to be the dx11 part of the driver. But AC3 is forced in DX11 so we can't turn it on dx9 which would fix it as well as it being windowed which is also absent. Such a crap port.

You guys are still having those atidxx32.dll crashes with 13.1? I feel your pain, those were one of the main reasons I ditched my NP9150.

I really don't think it's a problem with AMD at this point since both recent Ubisoft games crash frequently. If it is a problem on AMD though, it's probably due to the switchable graphics. I can't find anyone else running AMD that crashes based on this one .dll file except for others with 9150 or 9170.
-
But then there hasn't been a driver release that has boasted any improvements/fixes for the game either. I still think there are some optimizations to be had because even the desktop cards suffer from low frame rates.

AMD should raise their prices a bit,say 10%,and put every peny from that into driver development. Waiting months for an update is simply outrageous.
If they'd be cheaper than nv but similar in reliability I'd definitely consider buying from them. -
I did suffer from crashes in AC3 in the past with Windows 8, then I switched to Windows 7 and the crashes gone (but not the FPS issue). Now I'm on Windows 8 again with 13.2 beta 7 and the I still experience some random crashes but not too annoying like before. So I don't think it is directly AMD's fault, maybe there is a conflict in drivers. For example, when I tried uninstalling Hotkey driver the last day, AMD driver got damaged too, and I had to reinstall Hotkey driver then Intel driver and finally AMD driver to get everything back to normal.
-
I tried reinstalling windows 7 to see if it would fix the problem, but it still crashes frequently on the 13.2b7 driver. The bunker hill sequences seem especially bad. If this problem was due to a driver conflict, I think more games would be giving me trouble, but it's just this one that crashes.
