    Hi everyone,

Today one of my college buddies arrived with a brand-new Asus G75VX, and I immediately noticed their new slim AC adapter: quite a bit smaller than our current Clevo one. Since both are rated at 180W, and usually Asus uses similar DC Jacks, I am curious whether or not it's compatible with the P150EM.

Not exactly sure how well it would work with different specs, though. (Clevo 19V 9.47A, Asus 19.5V 9.23A).

Asus usually use much larger barrels in their bricks. You could get one and solder in the cable from your original adapter though if you wanted I suppose.

That's exactly my biggest worry. I don't know about the new models, but at least for the older ones, most universal adapters use the same tip for both Clevo and Asus. So it's possible the Asus one will fit, if it's the same.

Or at least let you compare the tips, if they are identical it will likely work.

I didn't have my laptop with me at the time. I might try tomorrow, if he brings his again.

edit: in the meantime, here's a comparison of both adapter sizes, with Notebookcheck pictures. Now I really want it to just plug and play :D

Ha, now compare that to the dell brick, it's smaller and outputs 240W ;)

If it's on the smaller side but still works, it will have some wiggle room, so be careful not to damage the jack by jostling it.

Just checked the adapter. The tip is a perfect fit :)

Also compared both adapters. Not much difference lenght and width-wise, but the Asus adapter has almost half the height of the Clevo's.

If you use more modern components and designs you can make these bricks smaller, though they do tend to run a bit hotter too.

The Dell one I think runs cooler than the Clevo and it doesn't hum. Just a better PSU. Asus seem to cut corners wherever they can, my experience. Not a fan of Asus notebooks. Also you can get the Dell PSU for $35 and the adapter tip for $5. I highly doubt the Asus adapter be less than $75.
