Update: 10/31/11
Added inf for 285.64 and 285.69.
NOTE: As of 280.26 the following Clevo cards are officially supported by Nvidia's Verde driver package:
This topic will be updated as needed.Code:DEV_061D&SUBSYS_51021558 "NVIDIA Quadro FX 2800M" DEV_0DD1&SUBSYS_51021558 "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M" DEV_0E31&SUBSYS_51021558 "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 485M" DEV_0DED&SUBSYS_25001558 "NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M" DEV_0DF4&SUBSYS_51401558 "NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M'" DEV_0DCE&SUBSYS_15001558 "NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M" DEV_1251&SUBSYS_51021558 "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M" DEV_1211&SUBSYS_51021558 "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M"
This topic is for those enthusiasts like myself who either don't want to wait for Clevo's driver update schedule or just enjoy running the latest drivers for their video card.
Q. What does this inf do?
A. Device drivers use a .inf file to specify which device and subsystem id's they will install on, as well as control settings and modes for those devices, Nvidia releases a generic driver for mobile cards that are not specifically vendor branded, in the case of the Clevo cards they are vendor branded and have non-generic id's and are not supported by the generic driver package.
This inf is an altered copy of the generic driver's inf incorporating the id's, settings and modes of the Clevo cards effectively adding support to the driver for these models.
Q. What are the pro's of using a modded inf?
A. Using the most up to date drivers can offer various up sides like increased compatibility/performance in games or fixes for issues that were present in older revisions.
Q. What are the cons of using a modded inf?
A. The only real downside if you can call it one is that the driver effectively becomes unsigned when a modded inf is used, however even with Windows 7 64-bit's strict driver signature enforcement it does make exceptions for critical components such as the video card and will merely present a warning during install only.
Apart from that there is the slight chance of issues with the driver but should an issue arise you can always roll back or install a different driver entirely.
DISCLAIMER: This is for enthusiasts, I don't encourage anyone who is unfamiliar with rolling back drivers or who is comfortable with their current setup to use these inf's, use them at your own discretion, while big issues are very unlikely there may be a case that you will need to roll back to an older driver revision.
I'll be updating this topic as new driver revisions come out and I make new modded inf's for them, those that are interested have at it.
As of 275.50 INF v2, current support for the following Clevo hardware was added:
Code:Geforce GTX 560M Geforce GTX 580M
Usage:
To use the inf, copy nvcv.inf to the Display.Driver folder of the driver package or refer to the guide below (Note if INF's are posted here for dev branch drivers or desktop only revs the inf filename will vary):
![]()

If theres a driver revision you don't see posted here and would like an inf for it, PM me with the revision and a link to the driver, Desktop and Notebook driver types are interchangeable when modded.
See attachments for latest inf's.

Thanks. 267.76 was just released but looks like it doesn't support 485m. Maybe I'll try this inf.
-
HTWingNut, does the modified inf work? I'm looking for a 267.76 modded inf also.
-
EDIT: Inf for 267.76 uploaded. -
NP. I used the INF you posted, but with the lv2g drivers (270.28) and it installed fine. Not sure if it botched anything up by doing that but no issues so far.
-
I'm running that driver myself right now. -
thanks
hope ht and the other guys with the 485 can comment on these.
hopefully bd, cuda, physix all work. i stopped using modded drivers a while mainly because some features just dont seem to work with modded drivers/infs.
hopefully these do. -
Thanks for the infs. +Rep
Hopefully NVIDIA will start their official supports soon... -
What are the drawbacks for using a modded inf apart from it bring unsigned? Will it cause the hardware to fry?
-
No, it just adds the installation parameters that nVidia doesn't!
-
So I went ahead and used the modded inf with the new driver. And I'm happy to report it works well with the 485m. Dragon age 2 worked like a charm. 8x aa with 16x af with the high resolution texture pack and on very high settings. Ppl looking for a da2 fix should get this
. Kudos atmosk!!!

Tagging this thread, in case I end up with an Nvidia GPU.
Nice work. -
Excuse my naivite, but I can't figure out how to install the 276.76 drivers with the modded .inf. How do I copy the inf into the 276.76 driver package? The file I get from nVidia for the drivers is an .exe.
Without the modded inf, of course, I get a "No supported hardware found..." message when attempting installation.
Update: nvm, I got it. Steps are: overwrite .inf, then run setup from within the C:/Nvidia folder -
Thats great!
Hopefully some people can try out cuda, physx, 3d and bd playback to make sure everything is working fine. -
I've been playing Borderlands and Left 4 Dead 2, Borderlands uses PhysX, I don't have a BD-rom but I could give some HD video a go, I'll get some CUDA apps to give that a try too. -
I agree with Atmosk, but vouching on the 485m instead. Performance has been great, overclocking was good and stable and doesn't look buggy with the control panel having most features.
-
Which drivers would you guys recommend, the 270.28 or the 267.76 for the 485m?
-
-
My 485m crashed once, system just shut down, on the 270.28 drivers once but performance is great... Mythologic also told me they can't get these totally stable. However without them I can't run as well so still using them.
Crash happened after 3 hours on dragon age origins after the broodmother right so I had to redo one of the harder fights in the game. -
I could also make an inf for the current 270 series desktop driver 270.32 to try, the code-base is the same as the mobile. -
ive been gaming with the 267.76 on new game releases and it works really well.
-
anyone able to keep track of any performance gains/differences between the different drivers?
this would be interesting and appreciated
-
Hi Atmosk. I really appreciate the effort you put in posting the modified .inf's
Earlier today, Nvidia released the 270.51 verde beta drivers and there's still no support for the Gtx 485M. I wanted to inquire whether you've considered modifying the latest driver so that it can be compatible the 485m.
Cheers. -
EDIT: Inf for 270.51 is now available on the first post. -
Wow! That was fast
From your instructions,I am to paste the .inf file into the display driver directory? I apologize for these vague questions as I'm very un familiar with this, so please bare with me:-/
By pasting the modified .inf, will the drivers be able to detect the 485m and carry out all the updates that comes with the driver?
Will this cause problems regarding overheating as the cards are over clocked.
I'd appreciate your input.
Cheers. -
Run the setup.exe in the main directory to install the driver, you'll get a warning about the driver not being signed but select install anyway and you'll be good to go.
You really shouldn't encounter any issues like overheating since these drivers are actually made for these types of cards however they were only deployed for a subset type by default, if you do run into any issues just roll-back to your previous driver or try another.
Hope that gives you a little more info on it. -
Thank you so much for the information. It works like a gem. Just ran a short test run of Dragon Age 2 on direct x 11 max settings(very high), and it's running great!
If you remember, Dragon Age 2 had very bad frame rate issues running on very high...that no longer exists
Will check out the change in performance in Crysis 2 & Homefront tomorrow or day after.
Thank you again for the modified .inf...appreciate it.
Cheers. -

So how exactly do you install these .inf files?
Do you remove the old drivers and all traces, then paste the modded .inf and install the new drivers?
Or do you paste it over the current one and install the new drivers? -
Game play is fine so far... One issue, how come I can use stereoscopic 3d with an external monitor but not on the laptop screen?
-
-
You just need to drop the modded inf in the Display.Driver folder of the extracted corresponding driver package for that revision, then running Setup.exe from the root folder of the package.
EDIT: I also added a picture guide to the first post. -
-
just tried out the 267 official drivers with the inf and all seems good.
+1 to atmosk.
hopefully cuda works, will try to do a video edit sometime today; did the same edit using the clevo drivers, hopefully it performs better. -
the 270.51 drivers really kick a**! i especially love the built-in update function, no more searching around the net for newer driver versions!
-
-
-
So I downloaded the 270.51 drivers and the modded inf, but in the Display.Driver folder there is no nvcv.inf file to replace. This is with both the english and international 270.51 versions.
And yes just popping in the file in the folder still has card not supported. I am confused as to why nvcv.inf isn't there to begin with anyways. -
-
Ah, I did not realize that there were desktop and laptop versions of these drivers. I figured that the desktop and laptop drivers were just all lumped together in one package and the only difference is what the inf says the drivers can be allowed to install to.
That's most likely my problem then. I'll download the proper drivers when I'm back home tonight. -
Where is the link to the proper drivers? I tried going through nvidias site but they only had the desktop drivers listed for this revision.
-
Note it'll also show a list of past releases prior to 270.51 both whql and beta drivers.
You also need to select Notebook to get notebook drivers.
I don't provide direct links to the drivers on the grounds that users are likely going to feel more comfortable getting them through their preferred channel of choice. -
Though in this case when the mobile is available in the revision you want it's best to snag the mobile. -
I did do what you said but they only list up to the 480m, i'm on the 485m...i picked 480m anyways and saw this...
Is the top one the correct one? It doesn't say its a notebook driver..i just don't wanna accidently install a desktop driver. -
