I have Dell GTX765M with svl7 vBIOS in my little workshop and old (but still beautifull) Clevo M890NU.
After some cooling mods I was able to put card in slot.
Screen lights up, card displayed POST information, Windows 7 starts booting, but immediately after windows logo dissappear, screen goes to some kind of self-test, with changing colors - blue, red, green, gray, some gray gradients (like for gamma calibration). Same under linux.
I tried to flash card with Clevo vBIOS, but then even screen backlight won't work.
So I put 765M to slave slot, without cooling but with fan directly pushing air on GPU (second fan connector was activated after laptop detects card), started the system on stock 280M, then I reflashed 765M to previous vBIOS. I let windows to start and I saw pop-up - failure to install the driver for new hardware. I opened hardware manager and I saw two "standard VGA adapter" positions, one with exlamation mark and code 10 error in properties. Installing NVidia drivers have not changed anything.
I checked schematics of both mainboards - there's no significant differencies between P375SM (in which 765M runs without problems) and M890NU.
So I think, that this is a BIOS related problem. Anyone have any knowledge about modded BIOS for this laptop?

Except there are TONS of differences. -

Looking at it from a sky high view yes the block diagram looks similar but in terms of EC reporting etc...

So there is no possibilities of upgrading?

To be blunt, unless its a personal fun project it's not worth it anyway.

Yes,in my case I can say it's a fun project because I want to see how far this "old" beast can go. So... is there any options?
