to all of you business reps who can get in touch with Clevo can you suggest to them that the next 2012 models would rock if they had a built in WHDI transmitter?
just think about it for a sec. seamon and highsence both already have the WHDI Sticks for sale right now (not to public in general per se but all the same) and Alienware are more than happy to sell a similar external solution along their UFLaptops.
but clevo could kill competition since nobody but them can implement this "right now" and many of us gamers and "multimediaphiles" would really pay a lot to have this, specially built in.
i got around this non-existence of the WHDI stick for sale by buying an Asus WAVI but it sucks to be chained to a cord. and the transmiter is powered so if you look at it you actually have more wires than just connecting the laptop to the LCD...
can you imagine the huge number of situation where this would solve or ease so many problems? at home, at work, at college, etc for presentations, browse, share work, etc etc
i have a 3D FHD 46'' LCD, a Sony Bravia KDL-46HX920 (929 in the States) which is the best consumer LCD out there in my bedroom but way too far from where the laptop is used to be safe or practical to be wired... so i feel like because my garage ramp is to high i can't take a Lamborghini Aventador out for a spin.. (couldn't remember another figure of speech so bare with me)
thoughts?

Color me stupid, but what does WHDI do? Is that video over wireless?
EDIT:
Google confirms my assumption, lol.
I agree, this would be cool -

i wouldnt say confirmed, but they were seen on prototype. also i would like for the drive bay to be converted to accept another battery.

I know this is not a perfect solution, but why not just use an Intel Ultimate-N wireless card?
My P150HM has one and i use a Netgear Push2TV (or you could use a similar device) for wireless HDMI straight to my TV and sound system. It's really awesome and because both are running in 1080p it is very straight forward to set up. Would this be an option? -
We could contact them, but I think the thing that most people want is backlit keyboards.

yeah i have an Intel 6230 but WiDi is not on the wireless card, it's on the CPU if i'm not mistaken. but it's not lag free and even though to see videos it is fine for games and stuff its not even an option.
WHDI stands waaaay above WiDi..
yeah that is true atm but most people don't even know what WHDI is.. tell them about it and suggest it could be built in and see how some 40% would love it.. (40% of all sales is a lot of cash xD)
well this is just my opinion of course so it's worth just that..
but if you can contact them then please do, you never know how will the react.. this should have more demand then the 3G modules and that is an option... -

Backward compatibility with backlit keyboards or...?

Ohhh, there's no chance of that lol
I remember reading the press release for the prototypes...they said that's not possible.
But then again, those were prototypes.

yeah i was also a bit sad when i saw that.. i'm hopping some DIY mod can make it work, the retailer where i bought my clevo has a p170 and is also interested in this so we'll see...

As you say, they're only prototypes... perhaps it's just the prototypes that aren't compatible.
