Hello I decided to post this to hopefully help a fellow Canadian out. As you likely know there are fees for buying a computer from the states, one of these fees is the brokerage fee which ups charges for clearing your package through customs. This fee depending on how expensive your product was is around 50-80 dollars. Apparently you can avoid this fee buy brokeraging the package yourself but I'm not sure how ( i heard it involves a little work though). There is an easier solution however which i unfortunately missed, if you chose the $110 method of shipping through xioticpc there is no fee. So instead of paying $57 for the 3-6 ship and then pay upwards of $70 for brokerage you can get the faster $110 1-3 day ship without the fee and you'll save 20 bucks.
Also since my package is a day away has anyone gone through the process of self brokerage? so I can get an idea if its worth it or not.

does the 1-3 day delivery include shipping from the US to Canada? as well, are the prices in USD or CAN?
-
yes the 1-3 ship is the express Canada service and it is in USD (not too much difference these days though)

well, we did already all know this information as it has been posted millions of times but thanks for all new comers I guess. I paid for express shipping in US currency and it arrived 1 day after it was built. I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba. So yes its fast shipping without the fees.

well you don't have to be stuck up about it, I would have appreciated seeing a thread about this two weeks ago and I could have had my laptop by now but live and learn I suppose. I live in Winnipeg to and my laptop arrived in Minneapolis today so hopefully it'll be here tomorrow especially with all this rain it'll be good to have something to do.

Would there be a brokerage fee if I send a notebook back for repair?
-
Now, there shouldn't be one.

Ive posted all the infos for shipping to Canada here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=3731330&postcount=12
I would also like to say that when you pay the taxes, you receive an invoice. If the case you return your product for a refund, there should be a option on the back that says what to do if you return the product. In this case, I think you must provide a proof of return so the gouvernment refunds you the taxes you pay.
Also, is you send your product or if you receive it after a repair, the product should be declared as REPAIR or RMA (or the correct term) so it doesn't get taxed.
Attention xioticpc Canadian buyers!
