    Quick question about compatibility.

Say I was to want to use a Audigy 2 ZS Notebook (a Cardbus card) with my NP5793, and I used an adapter like this one, this one, or this one.

What kind of loss of quality could I expect?

    and

What kind of improvement in my sound could I expect, say, coupled with the Soundsticks II (considered rather excellent as far as speakers go)? Also, with a pair of rather nice unbranded headphones that work rather well already?

    Many many thanks in advance.

an external dedicated soundcard would have better sound quality.
.. but not too noticeably since integrated soundcards are pretty good nowadays (especially with configuring the EQ and such)

I use my Audigy 2 ZS in my notebook when I game, great quality sound for sure.

I am not sure if there would be any quality loss by using one of those PCMCIA/Expresscard adapters... since its still using a PCI bus.
