Ok, another newbie question regarding my future Clevo P170HM that I'm going to order tomorrow :)
When I connect it with HDMI to my TV, can the laptop audio be sent through the HDMI to my TV and then to my surround system which is connected to my TV with an optical cable?

Or is the HDMI output on the laptop only for the graphics?

HDMI carries both audio and video signals :)

You'll just need to go to Hardware -> Sound -> select Realtek Digital Output

Be careful, not all TVs pass HDMI audio to optical output. My LGs do, check your manufacturer's website for details.
