Hello guys how are you? i just bough an used Avell B155 titanium max!

    Intel i7 4810mq 850m ddr3 2gb

    Intel HM86 Chipset.
I just installed premamod bios into it because its the same as clevo W65x67sj and i cant make raid work! Im trying to enable raid mode to use my 32gb ssd as cache but i could not!

intel rst wont enable me to set it as cache if i dont have raid mode enable via biosmode...anyone knows how to do it?

And the only workaround i was able to do was to install primocache and set the ssd to full cache but its an paid software and i would like to try expresscache, how to use it?

I followed lots of tutorials but it says that its not allowed to run on this machine at the end, any tips? would be awesome any suggestions or alternative softwares or even a way to make raid or expresscache to work on this clevo machine!

    Any tips? thank you

Get a smaller SSD for your main (128-250GB) and forget about caching.

thanks for all the replies, here in brazil ssd is too expensive i cant buy it, i do want to use the 32gb ssd that came with the laptop.

On bios it does have intel rst enable or disable keys and its enabled by default.

    Any tips?

obs: What about the nveo Dataplex software? back in the days wasnt it compatible with any ssd ? shouldnt i be able to use it ?

    The ssd model is
    MZMPC032HBCD-000L1 32gb!

Could you post up a couple of screenshots of the Intel RST application? I'm just a bit curious. Make sure to erase all files and partitions on the SSD before you try anything.

Did you install the tiny SSD yourself or did it come with the laptop? Can you ask the previous owner about it?

It seems the SSD there is for Intel Rapid Start technology which is so the computer can start faster and I would guess is effective in Windows 8 and newer. There is a separate driver for that on the Intel website somewhere.

So, you can try install a driver for that if you would like or if you are still all for the SSD caching then you will have to stick with a third party application.

I have checked again and the HM86 simply does not support RAID nor Intel Smart Response: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/chipsets/8-series-chipset-pch-datasheet.html

You could possibly try disable the page file if you have enough RAM, or partition the SSD and install some programs that take a long time to load there and maaaybe put the page file on the SSD only so the HDD doesn't have to deal with that.

Primocache seems to have a good enough reputation though. Have you tried the trial?

Yeah! primocache works fine!! im just wondering if i could find any free solutions...

By the way i have also read somewhere that i can install stablebit drivepool and use ssd as cache but i could not find anything about the real process to do it!

I think an drivepool may do the trick! have u ever tried it? or do you kn ow something about it? =DD

Sorry, I have not tried it. My laptop has an SSD boot drive. I'd highly recommend one if you can get something at least 250GB or larger at a good price. Or at least something that you think has enough space for you to work comfortably. You can keep the 1TB spinner as extra storage.

Also be a little careful that those caching drives did have a tendency to fail as they were not hugely durable. They did vary a lot in quality.
