Haven't heard from them with my laptop since it was delivered at April 9, 2009. I asked the help of Gophn on this issue.

I called.... a number of times to all extensions.

    Nothing.

Left one message for them to get their act together or it will be the end for them.... since I will remove them from the Clevo Guide and will put the reason why.

I appreciate the help Gophn. Seems as though they are not trying to salvage their reputation though. If they don't respond to my letter threatening legal action this week, I may be taking a trip down there..... This freaking blows.....

But I really doubt if that can impact their marketing/sales. Do we even have 5 PCMW customers here?

Like Deathwinger, before last week we are able to call PCMW with ease and they were very accomodating with our requests. I'm not sure what happened to them right now, it was unfortunate for me to be sending the laptop at the time when I can't contact them.

Lets just say even Alienware figured out why they shouldnt be selling Clevo's anymore... around the same time when I released the Clevo Guide.

And K|N had it in for me and this forum when we were hurting their sales.

NBR has a good reach. :)

Can anyone near their place, at Fremont, help us in dealing with this issue?

My laptop was delivered to them April 9, 2009, 9:13 AM, and was received by the person named J. Chen as indicated in the tracking details of FedEx.

oh my god... i Feel just miserable hearing these stories...
my experience with them was great... They sent me new LCD parts, a new power box, a new keyboard... and all i had to do was just say it over the fone and said the old broken part back... Even wen my computer came without screws lol (i know rite) they sent them next day air, like every other part...
Afterward i advocated this company to EVERYONE

... now i just feel terrible perpetuating a company that seems to be falling through the cracks... AGAIN..... i still have hope for you guys through my experience with them... but that was also in august of '07... probably wen the company was starting up so they had to be nice.

I'll be following this thread. I hope everything turns out ok

Problem is, I paid through money wire transfer since I'm from the Philippines. I had the same experience with Doodles just a month ago wherein I just explain to them the problem and they'll send me the part right away without much questions like other companies do. This is why I though I was fortunate that I chose this vendor until this problem occured. Dammit!

so get this! I just got a response from Thomas, my PC MicroWorks Rep! Maybe my last email about how I was going to drive down and find him if I had to camp outside the address got his attention. He says......

    "Hi Simon,

Your notebook is almost fixed, we had a problem with it after replacing the motherboard the first time that the system would have memory errors, so further diagnostics and replacments had to be made. We are just finishing up the testing and should be able to ship the notebook by this week or early next week at latest. I'm very sorry this has taken so long, and I completely understand your frusturation. We will be shipping it back ASAP.

    Thank You,
    Thomas Matthews
    PC MicroWorks Sales Team"

So it takes 3 months to diagnose a motherboard memory issue.... Funny it takes me like 5 hours. However I am happy to hear this from them...Unless its just to get me off their back while they escape.

It's very easy to pack up and move and just notify the post office that you had moved. They will forward mail to your new address for a year. If you live in the US, you can request that the post office let you know the new address by writing "Address correction requested" on the envelope.

It is with some trepidation that I stick my nose into this conversation - the only update to the original materials I have been able to find is in the Brazos, TX court case, in which summary judgment against Matt O'Byrne, both individually and doing business as Hybridgear, was signed by the judge in that case on March 4, 2009, awarding Hybridgear's old landlord about $76,000 in damages, with interest to accrue, and $5,000 in post-judgment costs, for a grand total of approximately $81,000 owed by Matt O'Byrne, and counting.

Enforcing that judgment in a sister state, such as California, will be difficult; however, at the end of the day, it would be enforced, which might explain a disappearance, if that is, in fact, what has happened. If I find anything else, I will put it up.

I purchased my 9262 from PCMW almost a year ago. It has been trouble free but now I am having problems with my 8800s. Regular windows graphics work but no 3D stuff functions. I am pretty sure it is a hardware issue as the problem has persisted through a Vista re-install.

I called both the support and sales line yesterday and could get no answer. I left a voice mail explaining the urgency of my need for support and followed it up with an email to both support and sales. This communication was at 2PM PST which is in the middle of their day. I will follow up today at 10:30AM PST which is shortly after their support hours start.

I will keep posting to this thread with updates.

I appreciate your concern and your advice. If I ever get a hold of PCMW, and my final attempt will be today when their tech support opens, I will not send in my laptop. I will have them ship the parts and fix it myself.

My laptop I use for work everyday so I can not afford to send it in. Luckily for me, even though the video cards are messed up I can still use Windows. Just no 3D apps "gaming".

If I do not hear from them today I will start the process to charge back the money that I spent on my warranty.

Sigh, and I need to get my laptop checked out to see what's up with my inability to install Intel Matrix Storage Drivers, thus equaling Esata support, turbo memory and cooler hard drive.

Let's see what comes out of the PCMW fiasco. Until then, people who talked to Eurocom, what's the progress on that?

I’m betting the issue is that your HDD controller is set to IDE mode and not AHCI. Intel Matrix Storage Drivers only works on AHCI / RAID mode.

If I’m right, it’s time for you to backup your data change the mode to AHCI and reinstall if you’re on Vista. If you are on XP, you need to find a compatible USB Floppy Drive and install the AHCI driver during XP text mode installation (F6 install) or find one of the many guides online that details how to slipstream the driver into the installation disc.

If I am right then it is really quite disappointing that PCMW support is so poor right now that they are incapable of addressing even a minor issue such as this.

    @deathwinger

if indeed you are on IDE mode, there is a way to change it to AHCI without reformatting the hard drive regardless whether you are with XP or Vista. I've done it twice but forgot the process. I'm pretty sure it's just setting something in the registry, googling it will give you many hits for sure.

    Hope that helps.

Actually it's really simple I did it 2-3 time too.
    1. Download the Floppy Configuration Utility
    2. Extract it whereever you want
    3. Then in device manager find something like intel ich9 controller
    4. right click on it and do update
    5. select the folder where you extracted
    6. then it will ask for reboot and you should be able to put your bios in ahci and it did lower my HD temp by a few degree

Tested on windows xp 32bit and windows 7 32 bit

Also to the one saying nbr as no impact on there sale, I think it has a serious impact (considering the size of the company) only during the m860tu launch nbr member made them lost quite a few customer including me who had already paid but I'm starting to be happy I did get my money back although I lost 100$ due to exchange rate and wire transfer fee. Also I think they're plan was to get publicity with there 600$ off and I don't think it worked since lot's of us canceled and that if you type pcmw in google nbr is the only relevant link and one of the 2 thread is a flaming thread

Also did other pcmw receive a email called Private Placement Investment Opportunity from Matthew O'Byrne at nstx.org talking about a "revolutionnary" notebook platform called ntsx inspired of ATX for desktop. I don't know it felt like a way to leave with even more money from there customer

Nope it wasn't that. I reinstalled Vista several times attempting that and no progress. I made sure it has been on AHCI since the beginning.

I think I put in detail the problems I was having with it. I was getting an error saying something like 'the Raid has not been properly configured' or something like that whenever i opened the intel matrix storage program. Then, when I restart the system, BSOD when I reach the Vista loading bar.

They also mentioned that they were in the process of upgrading their phone system which may have caused the problem this past two weeks. And they were also having issues with their email system.

Well, I don't completely believe those reasons, but I'm kind of relieved that I was able to call them, lol.

Update: I got through to them just now. Reason for downtime was back up of orders (their flagship systems and Edges apparently), the Easter holiday and problems with the phone line that have been rectified.

You guys go ahead and give them a call and if not they are going through all the emails they've been getting over the past 2 weeks.

Bmonk, also, give them a call, your laptop should hopefully be organized. (I referred to you as the 11 week guy, sorry :p )
