Another situation could be, they sent your mobo away for repair instead of replacing it for a new one.

Well I just tested a brand new 4gb kit of OCZ PC2 6400 and the computer will only post with one slot in use. And only the bottom(closest to the MB) slot. The guy at mediawavepc wrote me an email in very very broken english about how he was able to get my computer to boot up with both slots in use, but he didnt try 4gb. He said it worked with 2x1gb and 1gb+2gb sticks. He said nothing about 4gb, so maybe its the amount, but it shouldnt matter on this revision. I'd suspect I had an old motherboard if my 8800's didnt work. I guess I'm not surprised. I sure was hoping it would turn on though
-
So what happened to kevindd992002?

So, to test his theory, try one of your 2GB pieces in the bad slot, or any size piece in the bad slot.
-
I have tried using just the "bad slot" but it wont post. So I guess its bs.
Oh BTW, PC MicroWorks site has been down all day. Might this be the bitter end. At least I got most of a D901C/D900C? back -

My solution was to purchase a new 8800m from Eurocom (who made my 9262 for PCMW). Since I had already sent my 8800m to PCMW I had to swallow the cost of the replacement. Eurocom would have done the warranty work but I did not have a card to send them.
AMEX refused to charge back PCMW because the purchase was almost 1 year old. However, when I complained, AMEX gave me a $400 credit as a customer service gesture. So my total cost was about $300.
I am wondering now if I should consider PCMW to have stolen my property since I have heard nothing since I sent my 8800 in. -
Please report PCMW to the California State Attorney General. California is very tough with unreputtable businesses and scammers (take your equipment and don't return it, seems to fit here).
Just go directly to the Deparment of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Electronic and Appliance Repair (BEAR) form the State of California. There you can fill out a complaint. The link is provided below. Please report this guy, hopefully enough people send a complaint and this guy will be arrested.

I don't mean to offend anyone here but,
If you guys REALLY want your laptops back, you need to work harder.
If you guys convince yourself that you will be okay, you are going to end up with nothing.
Assume the worst, as it already seems likely to be true.
Now as far as calling and e-mailing day in and day out. That is all fine and fair but realise its not going anywhere. I suggest many of you look into further action. -
Also, I don't know if anyone has noticed yet, but...
When I clicked a link to configure a notebook on the PCMW site, it came up with
"This site has been disabled by Fast Track Sites."
http://www.fasttracksites.com/
Fast track sites is a web design company that may have closed down PCMW's websites because they did not want to be affiliated with shady practices. -
Fast Tracks is also the design company that made Hybrid Gear if I remember correctly from Shyster1's research, and yes, its been disabled for several days.
-
Found it. Check out the guys signature at the bottom.
-
Could be that the configuration pages are hosted on fasttracks servers and pcmw hasn't paid their hosting bills.

I'm from the Philippines, what could I do with this issue?
-
Yesterday my Blackhawk was delivered to me at PMW's expense and is working fine. He also replaced my cover for free which I had inadvertently damaged and I am sure wasn't covered under warranty. I am happy with the end result. -
-
The original cover was black anodized aluminum which was missing the MW logo. Now this cover appears to be carbon fiber with the MW logo inserted in the centre. I wasn't impressed with the original cover considering the amount of money I paid for the machine but the new cover looks much more professional.
-
is it the blue and orange logo, or black and silver
-
It is silver M with black W outlined in silver.
-
funny they switched my old blue/orange MW for the one you got also.
-
yes, I have no idea why they would switch yours;do you have the same cover?
-
I always had the carbon fiber with MW logo, but it used to be blue/orange MW. I have no clue why he switched it.
-
Hey guys. I have been waiting on my Blackhawk to be repaired for about two months. I bought it back in Jan. and it took it till March to get to my house. Then the sound didn't work so they instructed me to send it back.
The fedex man came to my house and printed me out a receipt and picked up the package. I have the receipt of it being sent back but they didn't include a packaging slip as proof of my order. So, i went to their website to print out my order and I still haven't been able to view my order. From the malware to the "fast tracks has disabled this site" yadda yadda I haven't got any print out of my order. Right now all I have is the credit card receipts with the purchase visible and my Fedex receipt showing that I shipped it back.
Until ONE week ago I was able to call and talk to someone but now it states that their phone and website are being updated. I read through the older posts and see this is happening to a lot of people. I also see that some people have received their laptops back. Mine was quite pricey and I was satisfied with EVERYTHING except the sound.
Any suggestions on what I should do?
Thanks,
Joseph -

Thats just it...they didn't send anything with my laptop except a copy of "lojack." I didn't get a packaging slip or anything. So, when I realized that I attempted to print out my order from the pcmicroworks website and I haven't been able to get on there due to malware warnings. Now, since the malware warnings are gone I get a message stating "Fast track sites has disabled...."
-joseph
EDIT: I just called mediawave and they have NO units being repaired right now. -
If you are truly concerned call you credit card company and explain to them about all the others experiencing problems with this company. But my guess is that you will get it back since it should still be under media wave pc's 1 year warranty. You may just not get it right away, and maybe not in perfect condition, aka missing fans and feet and ram.
-
Yeah...i don't want to get it back in pieces. I saved up for a long time to get that machine and I literally can't afford to pay for technology I already paid for once. I rather have my money back.

Didn't you get an email Order Confirmation?
That together with your credit card charge of an equal amount should do it. -
Hello Everyone,
Kevindd992002 recently contacted my company, Fast Track Sites, through our Trouble Ticket System. While I responded to him I'd like to take a moment to respond to the community as well. Shortly before the end of HybridGear I started Fast Track Sites to server the Brazos Valley TX area with web design and hosting services as well as to sell the custom applications I had built. When Matt started PC MicroWorks (PCMW) he used the same store system i had developed over 3 years ago. Since that time I had completely rewritten the system from the ground up as I had retained licensing rights on all software I had built at HybridGear. I then sold this refresh of the Fast Track Sites Store System, as well as our Trouble Ticket, Serial Number Tracker, Client Management, and Simply AJAX Forum Systems to him. I also merged all the DBs so that the system was seamless as well as performing severe customization on the systems and creating a new Distributors System for PCMW as well. I also helped in moving their site to a Dedicated CentOS Linux Server which accounted for some downtime. We were also responsible for choosing and installing a SSL Cert for the site.
After the system was setup we suggested a biweekly to monthly update plan for keeping the server constantly updated in order to avoid attacks and bugs. This plan was unfortunately not followed and resulted in two hacks, the first attack planted obfuscated JavaScript into all htm, html, and index.php files throughout the system that created s to the attackers sites, we cleared this out and updated the OS after this. The second time again happened due to our plan not being followed as suggested which resulted in the news.htm file being implanted with a series of s pointing to the attackers site. Once more we updated the OS and fixed the infection.
The system has been disabled 3 times remotely now by us (all of our systems contain a remote kill switch) until the business matters between PCMW and us are brought back into favorable standings. I cannot discuss the specifics however as soon as these issues are resolved the site will be activated once more.
While I cannot discuss matters between my company and PCMW I would like to apologize for the issues that have plagued you. If you have any questions relating to the site or if there is anything my company can do to help please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
Paden Clayton

Again, thank you for your time and effort in helping us. I hope we all get our problems fixed in due time. -
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
anybody got a reply from pcmw in any method of communication?
-
Next time I'm over there, I'll take a look.
-
Nope...still nothing on my end. I am giving them till the end of the week and filing for a charge back.
-joseph -
I got a response back today. They stated that they would send out my laptop and I would get it by early next week at the latest. I will update you guys as soon as I receive a shipping notification.
-joseph -
I also wish I found this thread before buying my laptop from them. I got a Falcon 17" from them back when they had that $1000 off sale, and it took them over a month to get my laptop to me, had it 2 months now, boot it up today and the video card is shot on it. Now I'm going through the same thing everyone else has been, can't contact them by phone, their e-mail system seems a bit flaky because I've had 2 bounce backs, but my 3rd resend might have gone through. Been a few hours now and haven't gotten a bounce back yet.
But after reading this thread I've already looked at other options. Contacted XoticPC and they had me e-mail their support to see what it would take to have them cover my laptop. Might even try going through the distributor like I saw someone mention in this thread too. At this point I don't think I'm ever dealing with PCMW ever again, even if they do reply to my support request e-mail.
But like the rest of you out there ... I now feel your same pain and know what you're going through. -
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
To what email address did you send your message? I've emailed them two times with the same message and I did not receive even just one bounc back.
-
[email protected] ... which was given by their automated message on their tech support line.
-
kevindd992002 Notebook Virtuoso
well, that's also what I used plus [email protected] plus [email protected] .. The [email protected] just replied to me two days ago saying that they will be sending my laptop to me the other day but until now I haven't received any tracking details from them.
-
I think the 3rd one went through, I haven't had a kickback, now it's just playing the waiting game, and since it's a holiday weekend I probably won't get any reply until next week, although XoticPC already got back to me, so far pretty impressed with them especially since I didn't even buy the system through them.
-
I got a message back from [email protected]. They said I would get my laptop back by early next week. I will let you guys know if I get any response or confirmation.
-joseph -
You guys are just being played with. You need to take action.
