OK So I just emailed Sager and got this.... apparently it's just for the Sager NP5793....

    System BIOS 1.00. 12 (Sager's version with the logo) and 1.00. 11S KBC/EC Firmware from Sager for NP5793 - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IF2SSXCZ

Also, it's in .iso format, so easier installation unlike Clevo's version....

I downloaded and burned the ISO to a CD but my 5793 doesn't want to boot from it. I repeated this with the same result. I prefer burning the files to my USB-key and boot from that but have not succeeded in unpacking the iso. Is somethingwrong with it?

No, it should be very straight forward. Make sure your DVD drive has first boot priority in the CMOS setup.

Out of curiosity, what improvements would I find in my system if I was to install this?

Ah. Any way to check what your current BIOS version is?

    Thanks.

Just hit F2 when your laptop restarts and have a look in the setup. It will say what version your current BIOS and KBC/EC is.

    ^^ What he said.

You can also run "dxdiag" in Windows. Your BIOS version will be listed there.

Here's a link to the actual files, so you can use them to flash with whatever method you prefer.

This is the BIOS that you requested from Sager. The non-branded one works on my laptop as well. I have a Sager NP5791. In fact, I've tested every BIOS version from Clevo, 02 to 12, and they all flash to my laptop just fine.

All I did was rip them out of the .ISO image. The Clevo is version 1.00.12 and this one is 1.00.12SL. I don't have a clue if there are any other differences other than the Sager branding on bootup.

I also have the same BIOS with SLIC 2.1 embedded in it that works on my laptop.

well, i'm back... which is a sign that either i've broken something or I want to do something that will probably break something.
Actually what I'm really here for is some help with this Bios update. I tried using charincol's files to update my bios with a usb stick. I followed all the steps to boot from it and that is all fine and I can even start the update but once it starts it tells me "the BIOS does not suppor this machine!"
I have the m570TU as some might know and the bios version is 1.00.025.LS2. This seems to be an ancient bios so do I have to upgrade incrementally or is it possible that charincols files are just corrupted? I haven't tried the iso cause I don't have any spare cd's. it should be noted that I haven't found the 3 boot files on my usb drive but it hasn't stopped me from booting to it.
    Thanks for your help.

Is that a newer BIOS ? Will that work for the 5793 ?

No, that bios will not work for the 5793.

The latest bios for the 5793 is 1.00.12 and KBC 1.00.10 (or .11S from sager)

Sweet find Prasad, I was still using old .07 KBC, now my fans ramp much smoother and don't full blast when the CPU is only 40c.
