Hi. Does anyone know where I can get a well modded BIOS for a Sager NP7871? It doesn't have to be Prema. I just want some options here.

I received it about three weeks ago, and it's a ****ing mess . It's not a mess because the computer itself is bad (it's actually a great little computer—when I'm on Linux), but because the combination of the gimped BIOS, Windows 10, and "switchable graphics" makes utilizing any of its hardware in Windows a nightmare.

I ordered from Xotic PC thinking they were partnered with Prema, but apparently this doesn't come with the Prema BIOS.

I ended up messing with the BIOS of my last "switchable graphics" laptop, and just completely disabling the Intel graphics card all together, forcing everything to work with the NVIDIA one. And I had Windows 7 (which won't boot on this one; something to do with the drivers in the image, I think, but I'm working on fixing that).

Instead of trying to mess around with this, I think I'd rather just (angrily) take back some control.

If there are no BIOSes readily available, could someone point me in the right direction? I've done a lot of looking around, and the only thing I've found was that Clevo BIOSes can't be installed on Sager computers.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer. :)

... anyone? It's absurd how little I can do with this BIOS. I'd even be willing to hexedit some stuff if there are any solid guides around.

I don't believe there ever was a Prema BIOS for this system.

I don't know that any BIOS mods were published for this model or series. They were largely reserved for the P-series.

The N-series also doesn't support the same MSHYBRID/DISCRETE mode switch I'm assuming you're referring to on your previous system, unfortunately.

@Prostar Computer Oh. Does this mean that, even if I manager to disable the Intel GPU from within the BIOS, it won't force everything to use the NVIDIA card?

(I've been working with BIOS stuff all day!)

The display is hard wired to the Intel igp so a modified BIOS could turn it off but you would then get no display image.

@AmagicalFishy Exactly this. The stock BIOS doesn't have the option at all, it would be odd for a modified BIOS to open it up considering how the system is designed.
