So I can't seem to get the answer to this seemingly simple question.
I'm trying to update to latest BIOS (1.05.05) on my P670HS-G (currently on BIOS 1.05.04 and EC 1.05.05)

I have the files from my reseller, just no instructions.
I think I need to create a bootable DOS drive, then run WMeset.exe where and when?
then run what command in DOS? FLASHME.nsh?

All the files are in the screenshot there.
I already have latest EC so only need to update BIOS.

    Thanks in advance

I'm guessing you'll have to run:

    1. FlashMEWinX64
    2. FlashWinX64

The first one should flash the ME, necessary to do before updating the BIOS. Try it in Windows, first. If it no worky, you'll have to make the drive bootable for MS-DOS or FreeDOS, then try running those same commands.

I think it might be safer to do it all in DOS vs Windows?

It will either work or it won't in Windows, really neither is safer than the other - not that flashing firmware is ever entirely safe, as far as risk to the system goes.

Thanks, so Management Engine is updated separately of the BIOS?
Usually they were combined I think?

I was looking through the files for similar laptops like the P650SE which only had a flashme.bat and they had instructions to run Meset.exe first then run flashme.bat
(rather than two files like I have here)

Last time I flashed a BIOS was 2 years ago on my P670SG and cant remember what I did besides creating a DOS drive.

So the whole procedure might be doable in Windows, not just WMeset.exe?

Unless I am mistaken, the Meset.exe unlocks the ME to allow the flash. There should be a Windows version of that if you have a Windows-flashable package.

Everyone compiles their package a little differently, so you may want to take my advice with a grain of salt.

Typically, the way we do it is run a bat file for the EC, a bat file to reset the ME firmware (not update it), and then a third bat file that updates the BIOS and the ME. You might want to consult with your seller, I'd hate to see you brick something going into it somewhat blind.

Our Windows based updates were running into issues, so we went back to purely DOS based ones. I'm not sure which your seller provided you with.
