Hey there
I've seen in the owners lounge for P150em that a couple users report extra warm spot on the back of the display right where the webcam is. This caused me to be curious and monitored mine as well. Indeed it is rather warm there. The rest of the display is very cool to the touch and it is just the back of the webcam. Super weird.
Anyone noticed this on your systems? It is warm whether or not I have the camera enabled (FN+F10), under Arch Linux or Windows.
System:
MALIBAL LOTUS / Clevo P150HM
95% Gamut Glossy Display
Thanks!
I'm tempted to take it apart to see if I could diagnose a short of some sort, but if this is a common bug then I won't spend that time. Thank you![]()

Whatever dude. Next you're going to tell me you're going to do mods to cool a LCD panel or web cam. that's hilarious. ?!!??!?!?!?!?!?!
-
I'm sorry? Why the need to make such a comment? My inquiry was simply to know if other users had this issue. I made no such claim to do any kind of mods.
I made no mention that the display itself was heating up. Everything is cool to the touch save the small area behind the webcam. Not sure why the silly attack.
Not that it matters, but I repair computers and laptops by trade

Mine acts the same way on the stock screen, area around the webcam is a bit warmer than the rest of the LCD. I would make the assumption it is power draw heating the board for the camera, but I would probably be wrong.

Thanks. It's kinda weird. This is the first one that I've noticed this behavior on.

Haven't got that on mine. It's cool to touch everywhere behind the screen.
It's an odd issue, but can't see why it would be a problem unless it was actually hot rather than just warm. -
no heat difference here. could it be coming out of the vents and bouncing of a wall behind it.
-
I believe it has to do with the webcam. Right now in just normal use it is "warmer," but once I have been on, say, Skype for several hours, the area directly behind the webcam is hot to the touch. I will get out the temp gun and check it tonight.
-
Yeah I don't believe it to be a big deal either, but I don't want the additional heat to potentially damage the LCD after longterm exposure. I'll have to get infrared temp gun to see what the actual temps are.
I thought the same at first. But I put my hand above the vents and no are is blown upwards that high, and my laptop is never against a wall. Also, the air blown out is pretty much room-temp air most of the time when I use the cooler. To double check I placed a plank to prevent the exhaust from blowing upward and after a good fifteen minutes of activity the webcam area is warm.
Well I've had this machine for just about year now. No LCD issues so this additional heat must not be a problem. Surprised I didn't notice it before. Oh well. Thanks for you inputs

ive just sussed out why mine isnt warm, its because i never use the cam
-
Funny thing is I don't either. In the year I've had this I haven't installed any webcam drivers.

now that is interesting. i guessed you used it. oh well back to the drawing board as i have no idea.
-
Maybe because the webcam area is concentrating heat conduction due to its contact with the actual panel rather than dispersing it evenly as other parts are to the surrounding air/shell?
-
Your guess is as good as any
