Well I noticed they got rid of any ETA note for the 8800's on PC Microworks website. I emailed them asking if there was any news and Got this response

"We expect the systems to ship the week of the 31st. The cards are on the way
at this point, so we should be receiving them anytime.

Thank you for your patience as we complete your order and happy holidays
    from the PC MicroWorks Team!

    Sincerely,

    PC MicroWorks Sales Team"

Week of the 31st means between Monday the 31st and Friday the 4th. Thats cutting it real close for me, as I am back out of the country, EARLY on the 7th. Anyway just trying to keep you XR5 owners updated.

Yea I got a similar response. They changed their news posting on their site after I sent them an email:

I saw on your website that any laptop ordered between now and the 19th will guarantee (assumed) that it will be shipped before Christmas. I ordered my laptop on 11/27 and I was curious of the current build status and when it could be assumed to be shipped.

    Any information will be helpful.

    Thank you!

    Their response:

Unfortunately, the free expedite service applies only to non XR5 orders; however, we expect the systems to ship around the last week of December or the first week of January.

Thank you for your patience as we complete your order and happy holidays from the PC MicroWorks Team!

    Sincerely,
    PC MicroWorks Sales Team

Afterwards they changed the notice on expedited shipping on all laptop models before christmas too expedited shipping on all laptop models (this does not include xr5 orders). Or something like that. I was bummed lol.

I think its safe to assume to get it the first week of January. I am not betting on getting it before then which really sucks (getting fatigued on waiting lol).

MegaBud I pretty much ordered the same Lappy from Eurocom that you did and I noticed also that they changed the ETA to Jan4. Now is that the ship date or the "expected" arrival of the 8800M's?

probably safe to assume that a delay will hit all resellers then. dang, was hoping to enjoy new laptop over the holidays hehe.

First week of january would be nice. then i can take it to las vegas and play with it during off times at the Consumer Electronics Show.

I wonder what kind of killer NVidia stuff is going to be unveiled... 3x SLI now... maybe they will have hints at 4x SLI craziness.

Yeah I got this message, so for those in USA you could probably expect the 1st wek of Jan arrival of the XR5

    My response was this:

"... We are expecting to ship the week of the 31st and we will keep you posted with any updates!

Thank you for your patience as we complete your order and Happy Holidays from the PC MicroWorks Team!

On the Schenker-Notebook website http://www.mysn.eu/ the M570RU seems to be available this month before the holidays and with the 8800M GTX.

The site says for the M570RU:

Achtung!

And for the D901C with 8800M GTX:

Achtung!

    Quick translation:

The M570RU with 8800M GTX will be available and shipped before christmas when ordered this week. The D901C will NOT be readily available with the 8800M GTX and as of now there is no info about it.

So possibly the cards do not have a delay but it seems to be system related.

It is more likley do to the cable nvidia is finalizing for the dual configuration of the cards. Possibly the driver as well but I dont think that will be released at the time of shipping. But I am betting on the sli cable they are working on.

they have to build the laptop, test it, and ship it... John is more and more silent on those detail... :(

When I had asked previously, the 20th was the arrival date and the systems would start shipping around the 1st or 2nd week of January. So, I suspect the 4th is the new "arrival" date.

Yeah that is what i am thinking as well. A small but very significant detail. Seems in all the hype and lead up to this, that perhaps Nvidia got a bit ahead of itself and is not able to follow through on its promises.. oh to be a fly on the wall in the Nvidia head office... and the poor resellers have to deal with our emails, "why, when, how...!!!!" -lol (It sux to be the middle man sometimes" lets hope that the likes of PC MicroWorks and others concentrate on getting the product shipped properly configured even if it is a little later than what we would like at the end of the day.

I'd rather have a couple of weeks delay, than have ti for a couple of weeks and not be able to use it, waiting for some part to enable SLI or lack of driver, you know what I mean ;)??

John from Eurocom just verified that the 4th is the 'arrival' date and shipping will be sometime AFTER that. This is nothing unusual in the tech world, but I WANT IT NOW :)

My reseller just confirmed me that he will be shipping my M570RU with the 8800M GTX this week, and he is getting the barebones this thursday. So I guess it's safe to assume there are indeed no issues with the 8800M cards, just with the D901C. I'll keep you informed.

I might have to call PCMicro sometime in the next couple of days and see if its the same for them as far as the Jan 4th arrival date and later shipping....crap...I was gonna shoot for the 15th like earlier but now I might have to convince my self that it will be february lol

The mysterious 'SLI Bridge Cable' mystery!! Dun, Dun, Duh!! :D

If it was just the cable then it shouldn't affect people.........ah.....

The 8800M GTX's in the D901C and the M570RU are not the same that is probably the problem.

Sorry I realized that while I was typing. If the 8800M GTX's are anything like the 7950GTX's then while both being MXM Type IV, they are not swappable. I.e. not the same.

Oh well, I'll have to install oblivion and play on my current laptop :mask:

I can wait for the laptop, but my urge to digitally pwn cannot.

Now is tomorrow, hopefully, tomorrow comes sometime soon ;)

More importantly, lets hope the likes of PC MicroWorks can overcome this hurdle from Nvidia, and deliver a fantastic quality product at the end of the day; rhetorically speaking, that is what we've paid for right?

I'm sure they'll pull through, and soon we'll all be posting how awesome the XR5 is :)

This has no relationship or bearing on the thread topic.

You should have posted. "Volkswagen is shipping it's new Jetta!!!" It would be as relevant.

    Directions for a successful post:

    1. Read the topic.

    2. Stop and think.

    3. Read the other post's in the thread.

    4. Stop and think.

    5. Post a well thought out reply to enhance and enlighten the discussion.

    Jeeze, I love Wu Jen.

It seems the 5792 is a better designed choice. The 5791 supports the 8800 gtx (yes it has a slight draw-back). And now the 5792 ships sooner that the 9262. Why oh why did we buy the 9262 based one? Oh yeah dual 8800 gtxs! But the wait is almost too much to bear! But dual 8800 gtxs!!!... I must wait!

    There is a final step.

    6. Drink yourself silly and post anything that comes into your head. :p

    *(Use with caution)*

Basically at this point there is no relationship between the M570RU shipping with 8800M GTX, and the D901C not shipping with even 1 8800M GTX. Even though they both are MXM Type IV they are different.

As to 'if' the problem is the SLI bridge cable or there being a shortage of 8800M GTX's for the D901C I would go to the horses mouth so to speak.

paladin44, eleison(sp?), [email protected]. They would have much more accurate info on the problem.

Just be patient though and we will get the 8800M GTX's in a few months and all will be well. If you have a D901C you already have the most powerful notebook on the planet. Enjoy!

Right, but for me its more like, the shop keeper said come back tomorrow, and when I do, he has already moved to Fiji and taken my ****ing lollipop with him. And then while sending me my lollipop, via dhl, some shiesty little ****s steal it, cause them fijians are bastards.

Not that I don't trust the Mexican Postal Service.....Wait, thats right, I don't.

I cheked the Eurocom website today and i noticed the JAN4 ETA for the 8800mGTX has been removed. Have they ARRIVED?? I emailed John a minute ago and asked about the details of this matter (they are already off for the day) but I'm hoping to hear from him tomorrow and will let you know here, or if you know anything let me know.( for those Eurocom Customers :) )

Sager will begin shipping first, so if you bought from Xotic it will probably be shipped directly to you from Sager.

You may want to change your order to a single card for now, and wait until after the SLi versions start shipping to have your 2nd card shipped to you. Sager tells us they are easy to install so you won't have to send it back to Sager for installation.

Check with Xotic for further advice.

Paladin44, how realistic is it to think that a PCMW XR5 with only one card, could ship out by the 5th?

Also, can anyone tell me for sure, who PCMW is getting their D901C's from? Is it for sure Sager? I know I have been told only prostar, eurocom and sager in North America deal with Clevo. So who does PCMW deal with? The sales reps at PCMW won't say, or don't know.

BMonk, you would have to ask PCMW those questions.

All I can tell you for sure about shipping is that Sager will be shipping first...probably in late December just like they said, and all other Clevo re-branders will be shipping a few days after that.

While I can't disclose from which of the 3 North American importers PCMW sources their barebones Clevo units, I can assure you the original source is through one of the 3. They do not deal directly with Clevo, or directly with any of the 3 North American importers. There is at least one vendor in between them and one of the 3 North American importers.

Just got off the phone with PCMicroworks. They said that my unit should ship near the end of next week (Thurs / Fri or the 3rd or 4th of Jan) and I could expect it either Saturday or the beginning of the following week. Pretty much puts it in the time frame of the 5th to say the 9th of January. I am honestly expecting it to ship on the 6th and have it mid to the end of that week.

Initially it will probably be shipped with one card installed and later on the second card will be shipped for the end user (me) to install.

This is good news because I am just taxed on waiting lol! Even if it is isn't completely functioning I need the new laptop soon regardless. I can handle my laptop having one eye closed for now.

Hope this is good news for all us soon to be XR5 owners!

I just got an email from PCMW about my system. Read from the bottom.

My issue is that I am in Iraq now and will be home on leave from 11-25FEB, so I need that 2nd card or will be forced to risk snail mail to Iraq.

My other issue is PCMW's minimal answers. Less is better is not the mantra I want used when I have spent almost $4500 LAST month on a product that won't be delivered until NEXT month.

The 2nd card should be in your hands before this date with complete instructions on how to install the card in under 5 minutes. Any needed software will also be included.

    Thank you,
    PC MicroWorks Sales Team

I will be redeploying to IRAQ on 25 Feb 08, will the second card be received by me before I leave? Also, will there be drivers and detailed instructions on how to install the second card? A more complete and detailed answer would be much appreciated.

    Sincerely,
    Kelly Nichols

    Hi Kelly:

Your system will ship with one VGA card for delivery the week of the 7th. The 2nd card will ship when it is ready.

    Happy holidays!

    Thank you,

    Dear PC MicroWorks Sales Team,

I ordered a BlackHawk XR5 with all the trimmings and would like to know what a realistic ship date will be. I have been reading on various forums that the SLI 8800M patch cable and drivers have been delayed from Nvidia. If this is true I would like confirmation and then a plan of action from PCMW on how they are planning on satisfying all of their customers, me in particular.

    Sincerely,
    Kelly Nichols

P.S. I emailed two days ago about this issue on Wednesday evening and have not received a reply as of yet.
