Could someone please elaborate on this for me? I noticed that a prior Malibal post said something about certain Sager machines with a backlit keyboard. Does this mean that my automotive blue NP8150 with lighting could be a reality? I thought I heard that this particular model can't have it for some reason? This is REALLY frustrating to me. Another thing, if this model is able to have a backlit keyboard, will it color change like the M##x series of AW or like the 17" MSI G series? One last question. I don't need a machine right now, but I need to have it in my hands late July 2012 at the absolute latest. I am holding off until I get confirmation on the lighting, because I might get an M14x R2 if it doesn't have it. Thanks guys, you are all such a big help!

So far none of the Sager laptops have backlit keyboards from what I've seen. The pre-production models shown off at CES however did have backlit keyboards but unfortunately was not brought over to the final build. Eventually I hear that Sager will have backlit keyboards, maybe with the new refresh, and I doubt it'll be as flashy as the M##x series.

flashy isn't really what I need, I just like it because it looks cool and it adds to the experience. Not a huge deal about the colors but it's still disappointing. Thanks though.

It is confirmed that select models of the next gen (a 15" model included) will have backlit keyboards.

The current models out right now cannot be upgraded to one however. Sorry

But now the question is if the 15" model will have GTX graphics or not. I need the GTX.

Clevo has always used nVidia GTX GPU's in it's releases for several years now.

There is no reason to believe it will be any different for the next gen... :)

Well what about the NP5165? That's a 15.6" with a GT555m in it. I want the true gaming GTX version, not the powerful multimedia/medium gaming one.

What I mean is, what if the NP5165 or the NP8170 gets the backlighting but the NP8150 does not.

There'll probably be a model equivalent to the NP8150 (although it may not be called the same) with GTX graphics and a backlit keyboard. There's no reason for them to "skip" a model like that, I would think :)

Why don't you just contact Nvidia and ask them to start branding their mid level cards as GTX, they will probably take you up on it. Then you can get a notebook with GTX 555m.

Ultimately until Sager makes an official announcement you won't know what will be available. If you really need KB backlighting right at this moment then one of the other brands will have to be your choice.

However I see you don't "need" the laptop until July of next year. If that's the case just wait it out and see what gets pushed out.

No one knows what Sager/Clevo's plans are.. and pushing for answers is kind of a waste of time.

The NP8150 / P150HM is one of the best sellers for sure for Clevo / Sager, if not the best seller.

What ever the model replacement is for this model, you can be pretty sure it will be one of the ones with the 'backlighting'. :)

Well thank you all, now all I need to do is play the "wait and see" game, but it is very hard. I want the thing yesterday, but I need it for college in 2012-2013. This means that I will order it by my birthday hopefully.
