    Hi all,

I have searched the forum for this problem but I don't find any thread related to it, so I create a new thread here to ask for your help.

The problem is that the left part of my backlit keyboard is always ON with a RED color even if I tried to turn it off. When I turn on the backlight, for example I choose the color WHITE for all 3 parts, the keyboard will turn all white as normal, but if I turn if off (using Fn+*), the left part will stay RED while the others turn to BLACK. You can see it in the attached image below.

For more details, there was a time I was able to turn it off completely by tapping lightly on this left part, and after that it would turn on again if there was another "shock", so I thought there was some problems with the cable. But then 1 of my 2 RAM moduls (installed under the keyboard) was defective and I had to open the keyboard to remove it off, after that the RED light is always on and I can't turn it off again, however I knock it.

This problem doesn't relly bother me much, but it is better if I can fix it. So does anyone have any ideas?

One more thing, I notice that the temperature on this left part is much higher than on the 2 other areas, is this normal?

    Thank you in advance.

that does sound like something is loose somewhere.
when you go into light controller does it show the left section as red and what happens when you change it there. try one of the cycles so the lights continue to change, if it then still stays red there defo is a fault and it might need to be rma'd for repair unless you are happy to take the keyboard apart yourself.

not sure what is on the left side for it to be more warmer. mine is cool all over.

might be worth downloading some monitoring software to check on your temperatures. you can find all you need in my sig below.

Had the exact same problem a couple of weeks back. You have to lift the keyboard, unplug both connectors and plug them back.

It's fairly easy actually. With the laptop turned off, tilt the screen back as far as you can. Then use a flat head screwdriver to lift the top cover (power button, speaker grill) from behind (that's why I said to tilt the screen back), it should pop out easily. Remove the 5 screws securing the keyboard (you need a really, really small screwdriver for this, I used a Phillips PH00), and lift it, again from behind, but be careful with the 2 flat cables. As I said, unplug and plug these 2 back, and put everything back on.

I did that test with mine, the software will not show the red color. I tried setting the blue color on all 3 areas, middle and right did light in blue as expected, left mixed both red and blue. Hope this explains.

Oh and by the way, even I wasn't the first to have this exact same issue. I remember another thread with the same, prior to my problem.

Yeah that is exactly my issue. But as I said, I have unplugged it and put it back, but the problem is still there. Maybe I will try one more time.
Hope that this is only because of the cable connection, not anything else.

Well it seemed that the cause is really from the cable connection, I fixed it now, thank you guys.

However, when I unplugged the keyboard, I noticed that the left part is really hot, is this also because of the cable connection or because the GPU is right under this area? Do you have the same temperature issue jonny?

When you turn the laptop back up, it's actually the CPU sitting at the left side. I didn't game today (just office and web browsing), so the GPU (at the right) was left unused. The left side feels a little bit hotter, but it's almost unnoticeable.
Maybe your CPU is not pasted properly? Which cpu and exact temps you have? My 3610qm stays within high 30's/low-mid 40's Celsius while web browsing.
