I am thinking of getting a Clevo notebook and can live with their naff chassis design ;-) However, what I would really miss is a backlit keyboard!

I've googled a bit and there are rumours some time next year they will do them.

    Can you guys confirm that?

    Thx
    Sissi

^^^^ Yes next year it is confirmed that select models WILL HAVE backlit keyboards. No ETA at all for this NEXT GEN of models... :)

Hmmm I am thinking of getting the P150HM now as it seems to be the slimmest model. Will I be able to upgrade this particular model to a backlit keyboard later?

From the information Clevo and Sager is giving right now, no you will not be able to upgrade a P150HM to have a backlit one. Sorry :(

Screw the backlight, I just want a nicer keyboard.

To elaborate on what Larry said, the reason you won't be able to upgrade is due to the power requirements. The P150HM (and other current models) don't have a power port to allow an upgraded backlit keyboard to plug in. New models would require this port being present and would be designed in.

Any rough estimate of when the new models will be coming? Is it the March-ish time frame that people are expecting Ivy bridge?

Desktop version of Ivy Bridge estimated to be released around March, mobile version should be out 1-2 months later.

Would be nice if you could upgrade your notebook to the backlit keyboard I had it on my Latitude 6400 and it definitely is great when your working and the person your with is sleeping right next to you.
