The Kensington Contour and Samsonite Urbanite backpacks are good options to consider. You can also check out backpacks from Targus and Tom Bihn.

Someone was saying a 17" laptop backpack would be better for the Sager 2090, even though it's a 15.4" laptop. Is this true? Anyone know?

I bought a dakine 101 and I LOVE it. They replaced the "laptop sleeve" inside the main compartment with an actual laptop pocket that opens from the side. It's very cool.

Any dakine pack would do, though. They're all very good quality and perfect for laptops and school.

I went to Sam's and got a Swiss Gear backpack for $39. It's SWEET! Very sturdy and well built. Looks pretty cool, too. Has an integrated wiring system for your headphone on the shoulder straps.

I bought a Targus Feren backpack from Best Buy, but have been unable to test it seeing how my laptop hasn't been built yet.

i got a northface recon, my parents 15.4" HP fits in it pretty well, enough room for a sleeve so it should work well when my 2090 comes

if security is important to you, i carry a pacsafe 200 and i love it,.its built like a tank and has a stainless steel net lined inside the fabric that makes it slashproof

    http://www.pacsafe.com/www/index.php?_room=3&_action=detail&id=67

the only problem is if you want to keep the battery on the 2090 you might look at 17 inch solutions,, but im not sure its always the case, alot of 15 sleeves seem to be a little oversized

Looks nice but as you mention, the size could be a problem for the NP2090. If the size were not an issue, that's a backpack I would consider for traveling. I'm not xenophobe but I think that travelers are always prime targets for crooks (in *any* country).

I'm very demanding about what I want as far as backpacks go. I've recently ordered a Jansport Exchange for my NP2090. I'm not too happy about the price (~$90) and the weight (about 3lbs) but as I said I have very specific tastes. The laptop compartment must be a real laptop compartment. Some backpacks I've seen online seem to have a very flimsy separation (eg. a sheet of fabric) between the laptop and the rest of the backpack. I also don't want a backpack that screams "high-tech device inside". Even if it does not scream "high-tech device" its looks must be subdued. It must be the right size to contain the laptop and a few books but not so big that I look like I'm going to climb mount Everest. The weight of the bag itself must be within certain limits (3lbs was about as high as I was willing to go and that's twice the weight of my current backpack ). It must have the right kind of compartments for all my crap.

BTW, my rambling above should not be read as a dig against any other backpacks people have mentioned. Some of the Northface backpacks did make it on my short list.

I have the Targus Ferren and the North Face Surge. The 2090 will fit into the Ferren, but that backpack was only made for a laptop and accessories. I don't think anything else will fit because the main compartment is basically the notebook padding. The Surge can fit a NP2090 but its going to take effort into putting it in because of the 9cell battery.

If you want me to take pictures of both bags and the NP2090/IFL90 and compare the bags I will gladly do so.

It does not fit with battery? Will it fit without the battery? You think I should cancel my order? Please show pictures.
    Thank you.

 Two situations I wanted to avoid like hell with my obsessive shopping. (I won't know until monday whether I was successful but I'm sure hoping.) Northface however has some models that should take a 2090. I don't remember which they were.

For those who (like me) do not have a car and are not well located to just visit brick-and-mortar stores, ebags has a lot of detailed information on all the bags they sell. You can check there and buy somewhere else if you find a better price but I've not seen any other seller with as good information as ebags.

I found a Targus 15.4" backpack at Walmart and it's been working very well so far. I've done a good deal of walking outside with it, and it holds up well, I hear no rattling or moving of anything inside, and it's pretty comfortable. Plus, it fits a full-size keyboard (a standard one, I doubt it would fit anything too wide/fancy).

I've received my JanSport Exchange from eBags. The Sager NP2090 with 9-cell battery fits snuggly in there. I don't need to *force* it in or wiggle it in. But let me put it this way: the insertion of the laptop into the laptop compartment cannot be done without paying attention about how the laptop is inserted. If you just casually shove it in, you'll surely hit a snag because of the battery. You need to keep the compartment fully extended (but without forcing it beyond its natural shape) to get it in.

I have not used the backpack for real yet but right now I can say I'm quite happy with what I see. There's plenty of room for the laptop and books and the quality of materials and workmanship appears to be very high. It is also going to be much more comfortable than my previous backpack due to the generous padding between my back and the contents of the bag and because of the better shoulder straps.

I will probably start using it for real next week. Maybe I'll post a review afterwards.

For those who would want to investigate the Swiss Gear, what specific model is it? You'll see here that there are many models of "Swiss Gear" backpacks.
