So one day I noticed my Li-Po battery in my W860CU wasn't sitting flush with the chassis. I proceeded to take it out and realized it was bad because there was a lump which indicates a dead cell. Soooo....I was wondering if it's safe to leave it in the battery bay because my laptop would have a wobble and one of the tabs are on the battery itself. I just don't want it exploding on me or anything like that.

You could put it in, but tape up the contacts, but I'd personally bin it given the proximity to some bits of my anatomy when on my lap.

Yes li-ion cells can explode if they go wrong. DO NOT ELECTRICALLY CONNECT IT AGAIN. Dispose of it when you can.

Get rid of it. A damaged Lithium battery can generate heat up to the point of ignition. USPS started a new policy which would not ship Lithium batteries outside of the states because of this, they didnt want the risk of that on planes. They have however lifted that restriction as of today.

the fact that i now have a wobble is kinda annoying haha. I'm a little inclined to remove the cells from the battery so i can make a cover for the bay that now has a gigantic hole and a floating SSD

Considering the small number of faulty cells it was always a silly provision. They should have concentrated on the quality of packing.
Bad Bettery Risk.
