Hi,
A friend turned to me for help with a Clevo notebook. The model is M54SR -- yeah, I know, pretty anonymous. It is "Vision" branded, and out of warranty. It has suffered rough handling and was dropped a number of times.
When I turn it on, this is what I see on screen:

Close-up on the lower-left corner:

The lines flicker a little bit, and the background sometimes changes from white to black (probably in relation to the on-screen image). The circual black spots sometimes disappear too.
Attaching an external display to the VGA port works.
I've removed the backside cover of the LCD and reseated the ribbon cable (it wasn't loose), but that had no effect. Is there anything else worth trying?
The panel P/N is B141EW04 V.3, which appears to be made by AUO. If a replacement panel is in order, can you suggest other compatible models to expand my shopping options?
Thanks![]()

The panel is definitely broken and needs replacing.

Thanks theriko.
The B141EW04 goes for ~$100 shipped (to me) on eBay, which is not bad all things considered but I'm curious if I could find a cheaper offer by broadening my search.
Are you aware of some general guidelines, or maybe a community-maintained database of compatible panels, that I could use to see what other options should work for me, or would you recommend sticking to the exact part # in this case? -
Alright, I'm getting a B141EW04.
Any idea if I need to match the "V.3" part too?
Trying to play it safe here...
Thanks, -
Should be fine, screens are usually interchangeable anyway aslong as the connections and resolution is the same you will find most sellers on eBay are selling compatible screens anyway, nothing wrong with this, just make sure you buy from a decent eBayer with good feedback, a lot of companys sell grade A- screens to keep costs down, so make sure the one you are buying from offers a zero dead pizel policy and you will be fine, if you can find out if they are A+ grade than that is even better.
Bad LCD?
