Based on your knowledge of Nvidia's GPU architechture and roadmap for the near and far future ...

which of the sager/clevo setup do you think will still have GPU refreshes and upgrades for the next 2 to 3 years ???

do you think the GTX280M will be the last upgradable GPU for the NP5797 ???

do you think the GTX260M will be the last upgradable GPU for the NP8662 ???

    Thank You

Based on a defective nVidia 7600go in a DV9000 series notebook and a failed nVidia 9800m GTS after 8 days of use, I'm leaning more and more towards ATI !

Haven`t you already made similar topic ?
No guarantee. The GTX280M will probably be the top MXM IV upgrade.

As I pointed out in your another thread, if you want a upgradable GPU that badly, start looking for a desktop.

You're asking us to tell you the future.

    We simply can't do that.

Any answer we might have to this question has already been posted elsewhere.

Cat, You may wish to stop creating threads asking similar questions and consolidate your inquiries in a single thread, especially when you are asking people to peer into their non-existent crystal balls.

    Thank you for your concern.

    :)

So sorry if I caused such a turmoil

    :(

I was looking for an "Educated Guess" ...

    ;)

An educated guess will do very very well ...

Well I will give you an educated guess then. Based on the history, No. There hasn't been a laptop can upgrade 2 generations of GPUs w/o a mobo upgrade. GTX280M is very likely the highest you can get in 5797.

There's no turmoil. It's just that any answer you are given would likely to be plucked out of the air, with little or no basis outside of historical data or personal bias.

The GTX 260M and 280M are likely the end of the Nvidia upgrade line for current Clevo notebooks, except for the upcoming M980NU, which looks to be MXM 3.0.

Whether the M860TU and M570ETU receive ATi updates in the future is another matter.
