I've read info from Gophn about how to best preserve you battery capacity over the life of your computer.
It looks like battery removal with the 9260 requires a screw driver and may be more trouble than it's worth.
Are there any software tools that manage battery charging -- such as disabling it when on AC power, or forcing the computer to do a 50% discharge/recharge cycle every week?
Specifically this would be for a 9260.

I have my D900K, never needed to remove the battery. I just make sure that its not overcharged, by unplugging it overnight and unplugging it when it is full.
then plug it back in when its low.
I've been doing this for over a year and a half now... my battery is still as healthy as it was when I got it... and I got used to watching for the battery charge.
But if you want a battery utility, I found that the Levono Utility is quite impressive.

Looks like exactly what I want. Where do you get it at?

I am not sure exactly... I got that snapshot from Chaz.
It might have come along with the new Lenovo notebooks.
So look for it on the lenovo site or ask Chaz. -
I found the application here:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-44226
but it appears to be product specific (i.e. will only run on Levono laptops). Looks like the search continues.
Any other battery management tools folks have found?
