So, recently, I was running my computer on battery while watching code monkeys, when I realized that the portion of the palmrest where the battery is was EXTREMELY hot. Really uncomfortably hot. Then I felt the battery, and it was hot as hell. So I took the battery out. It also kinda smells bad.

Is this something I should be concerned about?

I would say so. Excessive heat could be signs of a bad/dying battery.

well that would suck. I wish I could find a way to measure the heat of the battery, but all that comes up in hwmonitor is the voltage. It probably doesn't have a heat monitor.

Definitely contact your reseller on this one, batteries have a 1 year warranty so you should be able to get it replaced pretty easily.
